Well, it arrived yesterday, and other than the fact that it weighs about a pound more than was advertised (9lbs. 5 oz.; not 8.25 lbs), I'm extemely pleased:

Here's a link to the entire album:

photo album

The weight isn't really a problem. It balances well and actually weighs a little less than the bass I sold in order to buy it.

What a solid and well made feeling instrument. Man, I forgot how great these basses are.

An SR4 HH at 8.25 pounds would be a real featherweight. Possible I guess but Music Man Site states 9 lb 5oz (stating weight varies some) and that is for a single pickup model. I am unsure exact weight of my SR4HH but i think it is at least 10 if not a little more. You really didn't do so badly I think.............:)

Yeah..I was wondering where there is an advertised weight for the 2 p/up models. Nice bass, whatever the weight...Really nice grain!

I guess I should have said "posted weight." The word advertised makes it sound as though a retailer listed this information in an ad or something. It was actually posted in another bass forum in the For Sale section, but initially the weight was given to me in reply to an e-mail I sent.

Don't get me wrong, guys. I don't have a problem with the weight. It's just that the 8.25 lbs. was the thing that pushed me over the edge and made me pull the trigger.
I thought I was buying a very rare item and it turned out to be not quite as rare as I thought.

The good news is that you really can't go wrong with an Ernie Ball.

I'm still amazed at the tone-shaping capabilities these dual-H basses deliver!

The weight really isn't an issue, especially if you've played old P or J-Basses...or Warwicks. ;)

Hey, if somebody told me a bass I sent money to them for was 8.25lbs I'd damned well expect it to be 8.25lbs or very close.

That said, most I've had come through (SR4 HH's) have been about 10lbs so you still got a fairly light one.

8.25lbs is unheard of.

Sorry about that extra ding that I didn't catch Paul...I did say that it had several dings when I listed it for sale at a very reasonable price. If you want to return the Bongo for a refund even after my 72 hour return policy then please do. I'll even eat the return shipping from the UK if it'll make you happy how's that??

7.5 Pounds on a Stingray Bass

Might you be related to Dave MMNut?;)

I do have several music man basses in that weight department but let me advise you, they came with a cost. I hunt them down and it takes time to track them down. I have 4 30th Ann Stingrays and finally just yesterday i got another and it was 9.2 pounds so had to get it but had to drive 140 miles to get it, for me that's light for a 30th.

Dave, how about a group pic of just the 30'th basses and you? Just to remind us all who's the true collector:) Please...?

+1 The 9.2 30th I sold to James last week was by far the lightest in so far. They average about 10 lbs.

I know that's what put me on the hunt, found one but what a chore, getting them to weight it before you drive and then you have to tell them if it's 9.8 l'll be upset so please check the weight twice, lol and they did
