Well, after listening to clips and clips and such, I bought this from Bass Central on Monday. It arrived today. Definitely awesome. I love the feel, sound, and Color. The 3 way switch is definitely awesome. Series vs parallel is a totally different tonal profile. I love it. Still not exactly sure what the "filter" in the middle position does. Seems a bit more mellow sounding.
Anyway, here are the pics:
I already have put EB Dual Locks on it, and started messing with the action and such. Gotta lower it just a little bit more to get it where I like it. flawless bass. great finish. Great sound.
Compared to the SR5 HS with ceramics, it's a different animal entirely. Even in series mode the Alnico Pickup is not as aggressive as the Ceramic. It's close though. I do think however I need to change the strings on the HS. Previous Owner put GHS strings on it, and they just sound dead with the bass unplugged, and the B string is especially flat sounding.
Has anyone tried putting taper core strings on a stingray 5?
