The moment I saw a pic of this bass, I knew I had to have it. It is the perfect shade of blue. IMO, a blue guitar with a maple board and gold hardware is the perfect visual cocktail. In fact, if the PDN Neptunes had gold hardware, I would have probably gone into debt to get the JP7 I saw on eBay.

Anyway, I snagged this beauty during Guitar Center's in-store MM clearance sale, except... get this: when I called a store that had one in stock, it had just gone into layaway for another customer. The salesman called me back 10 minutes later and said he got the okay from his manager to sell me a fresh-from-the-warehouse piece at the same price as the in-store clearance. I got this baby for a ridiculous price, and it was still wrapped in the plastic shroud from factory. I've also been wanting a 7-string Petrucci of some kind, and he made me the same offer on a JP12 7-string (in-store clearance price on a fresh-from-the-warehouse piece). But it wasn't discounted as much as I'd hoped, so I took a pass and will continue to bide my time.

Enjoy the pics! They do the guitar no justice. This is the prettiest StingRay I've ever seen. If I can only get a 7-string, I will have, what I feel, is a very diverse and "complete" set of MM instruments that can get me any sound I want.

Surprised GC still had these in stock. They were a limited run for GC a couple years ago, I thought. I've had mine for at least two years now, and they really do look sharp. The gold hardware really sells the look.

It doesn't bother me if it's been sitting idle for a while as long as the temperature and humidity were optimal and the battery leads had not started corroding. Everything looks good on mine.

In case anyone wanted to know what it would look like with an all-rosewood neck...
