Good luck Gio (with no "N").... With my guitar A.D.D. and craigslist, I own and play just about everything. I think that helps to move from one to another guitar. Heck, my son's little 23" scale "Shark" guitar is fine as is his little LXM. The music man necks are the most comfortable to me across the board even though they are so different from one to the next. I will mention that the body of the guitar affects how the neck feels. I once did an experiment with a tele and strat, thinking I had this super thick tele neck. I took out my calipers and made a bunch of measurements and found they were both exactly the same. They still feel very different played back to back.

Whoa, nice Gio! Good luck. I'm sure you two will get along famously.

Thank you Mario I hope it works out , I wasn't looking for one but went on gc web site and saw one used and it was much cheaper than a new one so I figured if give it a try and see if I like it.
My les pau studio has a 59 rounded neck and I really like that neck.

Just curious if anybody had trouble adjusting to the 1 5/8 nut width on music man guitars after playing Strats or Les pauls. The reason I ask is that my elbow and hand has been hurting a lot and I used my strat the other day and it didn't quite hurt as much and I think it may just be a coincidence cause i really don't want to stop using my y2d it sounds why to good and looks way to nice.
Sometimes the y2d neck does seem small but most times it feels so comfortable , it could be me just over analyzing this whole thing.

Hey.. I have a Y2D and like you I've played a standard LP and strat for many years before switching over. Two things I've immediately noticed were the scale length and nut width and how they affected my playing (initially for the worse). It's an interesting contrast between the Y2D and the LP, I've never appreciated the degree to which such small differences make.

Well I got my dark lord now if I could just stay out of work long enough to use it . Damn responsibilities

Those mortgage payments won't pay themselves! haha - get back to work.

So, how's the top and neck? Flame or quilt top? Flame or birdseye neck? Please post some pics when you have a chance...

Haha funny, I was just realizing the same thing with the Y2D neck being the thin nut width. It's only an issue with pinch harmonic squeals around that area, otherwise I love the neck. Used to strats with about the same nut width.

I didn't have any problem adjusting, in fact Id say the 1 5/8 nut may be the most comfortable for me. My 2 go-to guitars are my Axis and my 1960 LP VOS. I switch between the 2 with no problem. In fact, I am thinking about building a Warmoth guitar and I may go 1 5/8 nut with a 24.75 scale length.

I tried a Dark Lord at my local GC and liked it a lot. But, I really did not notice any difference with the neck size compared to my reflex. Do they have the same neck dimensions? I have read on this forum of people saying that the DL neck being beefier, but it seemed the same to me.

Does anyone know the exact history of why MM uses 1 5/8? I know the Axis is modeled on a digital scan of one of Eddie's Kramers or something but does anyone know which one?
