I decided to swap necks on my Stingrays. I love my Redwood Stingray but it doesn't get the love that my PDN all rosewood SLO neck gets. A) I get around better on a Sterling or SLO neck and B) There is nothing quite like an all rosewood neck. The change is subtle enough (in looks) that if you didn't know any better, you might think they came that way. Threw on a white pickguard on the Candy Red Stingray just to mix things up a bit more. I actually played the Redwood live for the first time last weekend and it just killed. I'm sure I will switch them back eventually but for now it's almost like having 2 new basses.:D Bonus points... with this setup, I no longer have a 10+lb. Stingray. The Redwood/All rosewood combo weighs 9 lbs. and the HS/mahogany weighs 9.3 lbs.

Nice pair of basses. I would have kept them as they where.
Altough i can see why you changed, i love rosewood necks and slo special necks too. And the body of that bfr is spectecular. So i see where you are comming from. You might want to check your intonation now you changed from regular to slo neck... :)

Thanks!! Yeah.... It's hard to beat an all rosewood neck. I realize that it's a change that most would not have made. The redwood is my only bass that's neck isn't 1.5" at the nut. After owning it for a year and a half it deserved more than just being a piece of wall art that I occasionally play around the house. It's good to finally play it onstage. Believe me, this is not a permanent switch. I will swap them back eventually and will probably leave them the way they were built.

I like it. Both awesome basses, obviously, but nothing wrong with changing it up a bit. I have a Big Al with rosewood neck so I understand how you feel about that, and the redwood body is gorgeous.

They are both sweet, I like the change up. The neck pockets are the same size?

Nice one, unless you know what your looking for you would never tell.
Never been tempted to swap necks over, I have thought about it for the sake of it but my two are exactly how they need to be as they are, the right neck came matched with the right body :)
