Wait! Is this the first passive stingray?

Nope - SUBs were available with passive electronics.

A couple of questions - is the passive tone circuit the same/based on the one from the Big Al and Reflex?
does the gilded finish cover just the body or body, neck and headstock?
will the body be ash?

Sorry to ask but I'm unlikely to ever see one of these unless I actually order one. Oh and I didn't say - looks very pretty indeed in the photos - a bass with major wow factor.

I must admit it is almost my perfect bass, if it had a painted white neck as well for the full on "larry graham" effect the credit card would have been hammered straight away , as it is sums are being done as we speak, I guess Strings and things are the most likley people to speak about getting one in the UK, still a beautiful bass EBMM and I wants it my precious :))

Yeah I think that only 300(200 4 string and 100 5 string) are being shipped to all of the Premier Dealers and BassCentral must be getting 75 of them

This looks like a really cool axe... you know what else this thread says to me though? that they can match the white body.. to the white neck... does this mean the eventual return of the great white bongo?

You can really see the gold sparkle in the shadow of the bridge on that one photo. Pretty sweet bass.

looks like a very interesting bass. curious tho why they didn't stack the treble and bass knobs and have the last knob as the push/pull tone knob so it gets rid of that side jack

The five will have the oval pickguard. The last knob (closest to the bridge) is push/pull. When it's pulled up the bass goes passive and that knob becomes your tone knob.

Ok, but shoudn't it have just 3 knobs then? My bet was volume, passive tone, highs, bass.

Does the passive tonecontrol also work in active mode? That would be a new feature fur a Music Man.
