New iPods

My roommate has a 30 GB black video iPod, and it kicks ass--it's a very slick apparatus, and nice and thin too. Feels fragile though, but I guess that's more of a plus since it's pretty light.

I'm still hauling around a 60 GB colour-screen one (no video, but pics), and I'm still very satisfied with it, too.

i treat my 30 gb iPod with no respect. i toss it here n there, sit on it, shove it in my pocket with my keys etc and its holding up just fine. it does look fragile - it it can take abuse

As long as your camera has a USB connector, I think that's all you'll need.

When I don't have to use iTunes or worry about DRM, I'll consider an iPod.

Until then, nah.

I had a 4gb nano and it was a great little thing - when it worked! I have since upgraded to a 30GB video one and have not looked back. Great unit! I use it nearly every night and with some better headphones sounds great. One tip, if you are taking a long flight, turn off the the backlight and the battery lasts for a few hours more than it would normally. Got me to Vegas from London no problems!

what's there to be sold on? all the "normal" (non 'small ones': nano, shuffle) iPods have video now and probably always will.

The video to me is a bonus feature... i use the video capability about 2% of the time... but thoat 2% was awesome! I missed the first few episodes of season 2 of Lost... so i downloaded them, hooked up the iPod to my TV and got all caught up

same with 24... at the time my comcast dvr hated me and didnt record 24 so i got all of last season on itunes. its cheaper than the DVD, dont have to wait till they do reruns... u give up some video quality when you hook it up to your tv but its acceptable

for $160 you should jump on it

i'm a carpenter and i take mine to work...i wouldnt say i abuse mine, but it get banged around a little in the work truck, on the job site...they can take it!

Silly Question from a Non-Techie

Can any of the Ipods or other MP3 players discussed on this thread "rewind" a song so that one can hear a line of music over again? If I am learning a song from a CD, I can push the "reverse" button and the song backs up so that I can hear the musical passage again. Can this be done on an MP3 or WMA player?

On the iPod, you use the wheel to reverse. I don't think it will loop again and again no matter what you do. You'll probably just have to rewind manually.

on the iPod I think you click the center of the wheel and then roll the wheel backwards. Without clicking the center, the wheel just controls volume. This is how it works on my video iPod if I am remembering correctly. I don't know about the older ones.

I use mine every day. The gym, school, and since we do video podcasts I also use it at work.

I bought an incase the day I got the iPod so it stays scuff free. I highly reccomend getting a case.
