After reading the posts here and on the JP forum, all I have to add is, it's JP's model, and the changes are brought on by JP. It's kind of like the Morse and Y2D...The company and players are moving forward. Evolving. There is nothing wrong with that. BP said that the original JP will still be available, so I don't understand why there is all the whining( I know most of the responces have been positive) but what is wrong with moving forward?

Well, curiosity got the better of me, and I had to do a brief visit to the JP forum. Emphasis on brief. Engage whine drive! Whine factor 9!

I you didn't say it, I woulda as it'd be worth the nickel. :)

Yeah...I would have done the same...LOL

Seriously, everyone...let's not make this a JP forum/EBMM forum war...no need and it takes this great thread severely OFF TOPIC. Plus, I can only deal with a select number of clowns a month as it is...lol

I could care less what anyone says on another forum and if that is how they feel...good for them. Don't buy it. How hard is that? Be a man about it though. Don't come here acting all friendly, then diss the product elsewhere...now, before people get their panties in a bind...I did not call anyone out here. If you feel that way...PM me. Keep it off of here.

Back on subject. It is JP's axe. Simple as that. EBMM has to please him first. If he wants a hot pink axe with grenn polka dots on it and a piece of slate for a fret board...that is HIS business. He is a master of the axe and knows what he wants. Like JP. Big Poppa and Jon have said...it is evolving. It keeps JP fresh and that is the way it is.

See, to not like it is okay...just be respectful. Don't be a clown about it. Cause, with the "Free speech" crap and "I'm entitled to my opinion" garbage....it will make Big Poppa NOT SHOW US THESE WONDERFUL THINGS THEY ARE DOING! HE DOES NOT HAVE TO....

Who the hell am I to tell John Petrucci how to build an axe centered around HIM? I was happy to get to talk to him, take a pic, get a siggy and Welcome him to the addiction. Dude knows what he wants....he gets it.

I still say....AWESOME AXE!

And in all honesty, there is no way to tell if the thing plays better or worse than the old JP just simply by looking at the picture. If JP says its the best damn guitar he has ever played, then I will take his word for it. I love playing guitar more than anything, but he damn well knows infinately more than I do about playing and helping design the perfect guitar.

I think the new one is going to be absolutely bitchin'. Though now I kinda want a hot pink one with green polka dots. :p

He very well may be. Next time you see DT live you might see JP playing that guitar, Myung with those colors on his bass, perhaps even that design on MP's gigantic drum set. You never know. :p

You know I just have one more thing to add from my point of view. No matter how much some of us might not like certain changes we have to realize that evolution is good, and in the end we will most likely end up buying one anyway.:)

I think I do understand, actually. People who own the current JP (or several of them) have really been looking forward to the next stage of this guitar and a part of that is to wish for all the changes they would like if they were in JP's shoes. I realize that is quite unrealistic, but that's where a lot of this reaction is coming from. It's just wishes and dreams. I think it's a good thing in a way because obviously people are passionate about the JP model and loyal to EBMM. They want the next best thing, for them, to be an EBMM. Realistic? No... but understandable?..

If we all werent passionate about the guitar we would be making better use of our time than hangin around a forum.

If you look back at the JP forum when we introduced the first MM Jp some of the biggest supporters of our guitar were the biggest detractors. Same with the Bongo and anythin new.
You can look at change as threatening or as an opportunity to add to the mix. I cant understand why it is so important for people to critize what JP wants as Im still makn the old one......If I was discontinuing the first one then I could understand the SELECTED outrage

I guess I have to go to the JP forum to see how Cud is behaving!!!!

Cud, go ahead and like it or dislike it. Publicize it, if you want. Personally, I like the guitar, but I'm not going to "whine" about other people not liking it. That's the last thing I'm going to say about people not liking it.

If BP will market both, well, that's fine. I'd like to have both.

Seems like most of the whining comes from those who don't want to hear anything but positive opinions. Live and let live y'all.

B.S. The whining I have seen is people who don't like the pickup rings/maple top etc. Let John and Dudley design his guitar y'all

Let me take a wild guess...You are from another country and English is not your primary language.

If thats the case then I understand your post and you really need to understand the reactions.

The cheapest shot is that we as a forum dont accept criticsm...Read through this there are people over the top on this proto and people who dont like it. The difference is how strongly you state your opinion someone with a 180 degree opinion will answer accordingly.

The proto is to keep you guys in the loop and to have a good time. Read this post I have said if people still want to buy the original then we will sell it. We are not taking away from the guitarists menu of choices we are adding and that is ALWAYS a good thing......So if you dont like something thats fine with me....

Ok. Good to know that the actual JP's wil be on sale. Not too much patience to read over 13 pages of comments and stuff. My bad.

IMHO, I think this thread has to move back to the guitar itself and not people talking about the fact that there is dissent/criticizing each other for it.

I think it is especially a sensible way to go, because if you want to buy an old one, BP says, he'll sell you an old one. If you want the new one, well, I'm sure he'll sell you a new one if JP wants that new one too.
