new limited basses

I think it is a bit early to talk about LE 08
07 just finished
6 string Bongo is coming
5 String Sterling is coming

I think the factory has enough on its plate

Unsurprisingly, there have been a lot of discussions about colors over the years. Here is what I think I remember about what's been mentioned so far.

6. Sterling Silver (my name for that color on Myung's sixer). Either Drew or Jon (enjoneer) said it was pricey to paint; how much of an upcharge are you guys willing to absorb? Sure is pretty.

Jack

Sorry Jack, but I do bleeb, FWIW, that I actually called it "Sterling Silver" moniker first in the "The Thread formerly known as: Flat Silver Wednesday Torture!!" thread.....

now back to speculating about the next great LE....

So, I Googled peuss and got this image. Looks disturbingly like Jack.

Metal flake brown...

+1

I have a real, genuine love the old 1970s goopy painted rootbeers and everytime I see one up on ebay I'm tempted to lay down some cash. But lately, I've had a vision, a dream, if you will...of a modern brown with a metallic finish, and a black or cream pickguard.

If I were Jean-luc Picard, I would say, "Make it So".:D:D:D

I have no idea what's coming, let's get that out of the way right now, but a Limited Edition is generally available on almost all instruments.

I guess that eliminates any trans colors too. I like the idea of Metalflake Brown...made me think of Rootbeer...made me think that a Trans Rootbeer or Trans Rootbeer Burst might be cool...or a Buttercream to Rootbeer Burst and call it Rootbeer Float...I think I'm gonna have to hit Culver's on my way home from work today.

Is that a cross between "puce" and "pus?"

:p

I've always been partial to British Racing Green. That's not, contrary to what some might have you think, metallic. It's a really rich, dark, solid green that has (I think) a bit of yellow in it. MGs from the 60s were available in that color, IIRC. I think I've also seen it on Jaguars. It was also used on the Lotus GP cars from the 60s:

That color with a yellow pickguard....schweet.

I know, I know...green basses don't sell, Envy Green and the Dargies have already been done, no more green, etc. etc. etc.

How a BP hawaiian-shirt motif?

I'm just sayin'.

I'm so immensely relieved that you guys aren't in charge of color selection!

Re British Leyland Racing Green - I had a TR6 in that color in the mid-70s. It's not so very different from Ye Olde Envy Green, although Envy Green was a bit more snappy and lively.

Racing stripes are always cool, though.

Jack

Well colors are colors and most of them have already been done. How about hair? Cow hide, sheep wool, a leather “Waylon Jennings” treatment, or the ever popular python skin. Or a tin foil “Baked Potato Bongo”, or bring back the 70’s clear Lucite… that ain’t a good idea.

OK, I’m up late… sorry…
