Was at GC last weekend waiting for my wife to finish up some business (she plays a little, collects a lot...she buys way more guitars than I do...:D), so I decided to spend a few minutes with a new Luke III I spotted.
Big mistake!! I only played it about 10 minutes, but I couldn't stop thinking about it all week....
To shorten the story, we went back Sat and brought it home.

As you can see, the neck is just amazing! About the swirliest, burliest wood I've ever seen.
The neck carve is interesting too...almost feels like a rounded off "V" shape. It's a bit different, but very nice.
I like the way the color changes with the light and that it's very subtle. And the pick ups are just outstanding!!

Super comfortable guitar all around. I sure didn't -need- another guitar right now, but I couldn't pass this one up...

Amazing.

The more pics I see of this guitar, the more certain I am this is going to return with me to Chile after my trip to the US in October...

Perhaps THE best looking LIII I've seen.

The roasted, unfinished, necks seem to be some of the gnarliest of all maple necks. Incredibly figured and it shows so well in this "finish".

That one photo almost looks like it is a Silverburst finish…hey hey, I smell the next PDN finish, lol. Sparkle Silverburst would be exceptional.

Congrats on having a very cool wife. Oh, and a nice Luke.
Thanks...you have no idea how lucky I am to have her in my life...she's a keeper!

Also wanted to add that I did a bit of research (after I posted this...) and discovered that all the Luke models have some variant of "V" neck. That was news to me...sorry.
It's very subtle, but I would swear that mine is just a wee bit asymmetrical, where the thickest point is just a tad more to the bass side of the neck. Maybe this is common as well??
I have a couple of basses built with asymmetrical necks so I guess I'm used to it.
