don't know if anyone out here is a Mesa fan *i am* but anyone try the new Lone-Star or Stiletto amps? they're supposed to be geared a little more to you classic guys from what i read vs. the Recto for us metal heads. they still have alot of gain but not anywhere near the lows of the recto and with crytaly highes. just curious as to anyones input.

Estin,

I tried the Lone Star not long ago and liked it. I especially liked the clean side when pushed abit. I can't remember too well about the dirty side but I know it was really hard to get a bad sound out of it. The amp looks cool too. Does that help the tone??...LOL! Anyway the amp sure didn't stay around long. I think it was sold in less than a week. I don't know that much about boogie amps. I've owned a Mark I before but other than that I not that familiar with them. My guess is that it would be hard to go wrong with buying one. I do know that they aren't going to offer the 200 watt EV speaker as a option in their amps any longer. EV has stopped making the EV12L.

nice to hear someone has tried one of them. i just read a ad introducing the Stiletto so it may not even be out for sale yet. and yes a cool looking amp always helps the tone a bit ;) lol i prolly won't miss the EV much i've never played one and always stuck to celestions even tho their over priced.

Of course...I sound best when I play through my Vox, which is the coolest looking amp of all time!

Or maybe it's the ugliest, I guess is depends on your point of view. :)

i really like the look of my Mesa single recto. i have the chrome diamond face with black chassis and blue light. i like the black diamond faces with black chassic better. looks more evil.

I checked out the stiletto, it was an EL34 head, really nice looks, it sort of had that mesa vibe to its sound even though its supposed to be more vintage sounding, but I guess looser in the bottom end if that helps, also it was not as harsh as the rectifier, smoother, but not as tight either, so I guess thats the trade off of the rectifier, didnt check out the clean at all - lock

Sorry for the multiple posts i don't know how to post more than 1 pic in a post. If you're looking for the BEST all around amp that money can buy, Matchless would be the one !!!!!!!!! As you can see from my previous post and this post you can see why i'm calling it a Matchless wannabe !!!!!!!

LOL you guys crack me up. well i think there's alot of amps out there with that cabinet design. besides we all know vox and matchless don't have an idea what the word "gain" means. their idea of a gain channel is when you strum the strings too hard and it breaks up the preamp :D ;)

oh, and don't get me started on "badcat" amps, their just a matchless wannabe, who's just a vox wannabe all of which have no idea what "gain" means. LOL!!!! sorry sorry i couldn't resist.

yeah badcat amps are the matchless guys. top hat amps are just matchless wannabe's, who are just vox wannabe's who are just......uh...... ah to hell with it.

I'm a Matchless wannabe owner, a Vox wannabe owner, Carr wannabe owner, Landgraff wannabe owner and on and on and on........
