That mint green has my name all over it. The one at the show was simply superb.

I played this one and fell in love. The only "Stingray 4" I own is a SUB so I think I can justify this, don't you?

Keep an eye out for a light one, Pat!

Also really great to finally meet you in person.

Oh my gosh. Mint green and SLO neck! I will be buying one of these for sure. Now I have to figure out how to come up with the cabbage.

The price of these of these are relatively cheep...I love the sound fretless graphite so I would suggest getting one you like and put a Status neck on it.

True but add in the price of a Status graphite neck, then I might as well buy a second have fretless Stingray which is what I am currently looking at doing. They are only around £600 here in the UK. The other option is to get a Ray34 and have it defretted which is only about £100.

I still can't believe EB have not done a fretless Ray34. As the price is so good for these basses, it would be an ideal option for somebody wanting to try out a fretless for the first time or even move up to a mid range fretless if they can't afford a Stingray. Squire did a superb entry level Vintage Modified fretless which sold bucket loads and the Ray 34 would be a very similar option bar being a little more expensive but higher quality. They even do a left handed Ray 34 so no fretless to me a a really big missed opportunity.

Hmmmm....I assume the electronics are outsourced, rather than in-house MIA? How close does the two band eq come to the real McCoy? Is it the same circuit, just manufactured offshore?

Here is what I know
I can tell you that this circuit is like the MIAs Classics with no center dent.
They are modeled after the classic models however the the neck change was a decision to offer something slightly different.

really really eager to try one of these. as much as i drool over the classic stingrays, i know i wouldn't be able to afford one for quite some time. so i was pumped about seeing these, and i'm suprised more people aren't reacting to them. does anyone have the slightest idea when these might hit stores?? cause there are a few used SUBs for sale in my area, and if these are going to take awhile i might pull the plug on one of those instead..

Ok, so I just played my brand new SBMM Ray34CA Mint Green bass. It sounds great. It feels great. I asked Pat to send me the heaviest one he could find and believe me, this one is heavy, but that's what I like in basses. Even though its heavy, it still sits very balanced. I'm sure there are some on the lighter side as well. The output is pretty hot on this one which works well with my 18v axes. Takes a minute to get used to the 2 band if you're used to the 3 band. Absolutely love the gloss finish on the neck.

Thanks Pat!!!

I just received mine and I'm totally digging it.
I'm really happy with it and if you are a J-bass or Sterling kind of player you will feel right at home.

These are just absolutely killer basses.:D

Hello all, its been a Looooong time since i was on here. I moved away from 'rays but they've haunted me ever since! So i 'may' be back soon ;-)
I have a question about these sterling CA 34's if i may? Does anyone know if they take a standard stingray pickguard, or if you wanted a replacement would it have to be custom cut?
Cheers all, hope to be back in the fold soon
Gaf
