6 Months ago i bought a Ernie Ball John Petrucci brand new. The store had it for some year in the back store. 2 months agor i'v have begun experiencing some cracking problems from the neck. thinking they was something wrong with it, i'v returned it to the store so they send it back to EB. They kept the guitar for 3 days trying it and set it and i think they found the problem.

But now i have another prob, looks like my nut is too low at the low E string cause it toutches the clear finish of the rosewood between the nut and the tuner. Now every time i toutch the tremolo a bit, the guitar gets out of tune.
And worse, now the finish is grinded because of the low E string.

It a superb guitar that play like heaven but i can't live with that issue. So i want to know if it's possible to buy a complete new neck with a good nut on it or should i simply sell the guitar?

The number to Customer Service is 1-800-543-2255. You need to call them first instead of posting as it gives those great people a chance to fix the problem. No need to sell, let them fix it so you will be happy with it.

Koogs is spot on - take it up with CS first, there's nothing us forumites can do to help you as it would probably invalidate the warranty.
EB will not just sell you a neck - you'd have to return the old neck - and if you're gonna do that you may as well send the whole guitar back.
Everything will work out fine - but you gotta take it through the right channels,

Maybe your right but last time i wanted to send it to Musicman because of my cracking problem, i had to pay at least 300$ Canadian(i live in quebec) just for the shipping and a good half an hour of argumenting with the store guy to proove him that these kind of problem are not normal on a 2000$ guitar!

Please don't take this the wrong way, i love my guitar to death, and i'v allready ordered another Eb Musicman John Petrucci.

if the store guy argues with you, dont run your buisness through him. dont have HIM send the guitar back, talk to CS yourself.

like everyone has said, call Customer Service. BP and the gang dont like people bringing up CS-style questions on the forum...theres a reason they have a CS department. dont worry, they'll hook you up.

Like i allready said guys don't take it the wrong way, i was just asking if it was possible to buy a new neck, that all. I was not beging for comsumer support.

And by the way Thirdpole, to be more presice, live in montreal, i buy my guitars from Steve's Music Store and i think it is the only place i know that selling Musicman. But the problem with them is that they don't really care about their consumers, it's even worse when you got something to return!

Thanks guys for your answers, i'll check what i can do.

Astarock, the people that can answer your question are the Customer Service people everyone is right about that. We don't work for EBMM we are merely the owners of EBMM. If you have a problem with an instrument, call them talk to them, they are very cool and will help you in the best way that they can.

Everyone else is right, don't deal with the place you bought the guitar thru, deal with the place that made the guitar for you.

I had a quick question about a guitar neck, I called Customer Service and talked to Steve I think and he answered my question like that. Customer service is a strong point that EBMM has that most others companies drop the ball on. If there's a problem, give them the chance to fix it and make it right.

I'm here in the states so I don't really know about how much it costs to ship to California from where you are. Look into the shipping costs yourself, you might find that your guitar place is ripping you off.

Good luck with you problem. Glenn |B)

I don't think we are taking it the wrong way. I just want to make sure you go the right direction to get your problem looked at by the people who know best. Again, you can call Customer Service and get to the bottom of the problem. Trust me, they will. Their work is legendary. You may have to send it to them....that is just how it works out sometimes, but, I can guarantee you.....it will be fixed and returned to you in prestine condition and you will then start a thread on how great they are.....;) Trust me on this one. Hope it all works out for you.

Hughhh! I hate Steve's... I used to live in Montreal and had to deal with these guys because they're the only store with a decent inventory... I'm so glad to have moved to the Ottawa region. I now deal with Long&Mcquade. I've heard some people having bad experiences with them, but it's only been good for me so far. It also helps that they sold me my beloved EBMM for dirt cheap (for Canadian prices) because it had been hanging in their store for 2 years...

Cheers

Agreed, Steve's is a crappy store with great gear.
But that's where I spent my youth dreaming (of the guitars I now own) :)

Anyway, astarock, your JP is most certainly a dud. I'll buy it off you (cheap, of course), as a favor to another Montréalais.. ;)

I've heard some real horror stories about the other Steve's Music stores, but the Steve's in Ottawa is great - it's like the polar opposite of the Toronto and Montreal stores.

I've been to Steve's in Ottawa once and people there did seem a lot nicer than the employees of the Montreal store. They didn't have any EBMM guitar in stock though...

There are about 4 Long and McQuade stores within a 1/2 hour drive from me. I find my experience with them hit and miss. I agree about EBMM in stock guitars/basses. You'd be lucky if there was one or two EBMM's in each of those stores. And when they do have stock it's usually an Axis or Axis SS. Although, I haven't been to any store in about a month. They could be restocked but I doubt it.

Also, do you find it a little weird that they force their employees to wear dress shirts and ties. That just doesn't seem right.

I like the fact that L&M salespeople are not paid by the commission. They're therefore not too agressive at trying to sale you any kind of crap... Going to Steve's in MTL feels like walking into a used car dealership (no offense to used car salespeople intended...)

You're right about the fact that the EBMM stock at L&M could be better, but it varies. My local L&M had two or three SUB guitars, one silhouette and an Axis SS (i think) + about 5 basses (one lefty SR4 that just looked sweeet!) two weeks ago... not bad!

Cheers,
