Help! New noisy guitar

I think it's just that the pickups are much higher output than any of the others. I used to have a Wolfgang, and the pickups were twice as hot as any of my other guitars. It had twice the out put and twice the buzz. I eventually parted with it because the pickups were too hot for anything I like to play.

Thank you Guitarburetor...don't you just love it when people blab about things they obviously don't know.

My take is this.. in the video there is alot of noise (IMHO) from all of his guitars when he has the volume full up and not playing. None of my guitars have ever sounded even as noisey as in this vid. The Axis is of course exhibiting louder noise, but it could be that the pickups are far more high output.

I hope we all learn the eventual outcome of this situation.

well mister jim its not that i didnt know its that i remember getting an email from music man about the mags. now that ive cleared it up calling this number
18002216468 they corrected me and told me there alnico
and yes there really high out put. that noise is normal when playing high gain amps. peace

Honestly the noise my camera picked up with guitar volume all the way up, and me not playing is a LOT more than I can hear just sitting in the room. Keep in mind I recorded this with a snap-shot digital camera - not a video camera. I'm sure that camera has a very little microphone with very narrow frequency range and dynamics. Maybe the gain noise was just a very responsive frequency to the camera?

With all my other guitars running that Mesa in channel 4 on Modern mode and really pushing the gain it is really almost dead quiet in that room. The amp is TOTALLY quiet when the volume on the guitar is all the way off. That video does bring out the hum more and make it more noticable with all of my guitars - I will give you that. The Axis guitars are still really bad. But we're workin on it

For the sake of my hypothesis, I'm going to assume that there is not a problem with the pickups or the guitar in any way.

You have demonstrated in the video that all of the other guitars you played did not have as much static noise as the Axis's. There was noise with the others, but not to the same degree as with the Axis's. You plugged the guitars in using the same cable, the same amp, in the same room, with the same settings. I think this may be the problem.

The settings of your amp may be ideal for your other guitars pickups, but not for the Axis. The EQ curve of the Axis pickups may be more responsive in a range that you already have dialed up in your amp. Have you tried adjusting your amp settings to compliment the guitar? I'm not asking this to be insulting, but you may have to make some adjustments to your amp to get rid of the buzz. This may not even be the answer at all, just worth a try.

Yeah I had the same problem.I was planning on swapping out the stock p/ups for dimarzios (Tone zone and air norton) but ended up selling my last wolfgang to buy the silhouette I have now.

OK while I dont have your rig, nice Mesa by the way, was very curious after watching the vid, first when you compare a tele or strat to an axis you are comparing apples to oranges and yes I heard noise from single coil pups, granted audio quiality is poor, did find what you recorded strange.

Like i said dont have you amp but since I was alone, can not do the high gain stuff with the wife at home tried to simulate it on my amps, pups on my axis are dead silent even at full gain and volume, my axis is brand new with a DOB of 10\09, anyways nice playing and room CS will sort this out they always do
