Well, that blueburst Bongo killed me. It's good I have no premier dealers here so I have no opportunity to go crazy. Btw how you will describe mahogany vs basswood body for the Bongo?

I have a PDN Honey Roasted Bongo 4HH with mahogany body and it's the best sounding Bongo I've ever played! I didn't think they could sound better but this one really does.

Here are some more pictures: PDN Neptune Blue

Thanks AJ!

A.J., could we possibly get a pic of the back of one of these? I'd particularly love to see what the burst looks like on the back of a Bongo. Thanks!

This is the Bongo of my dreams. Ever since I saw the one-off trans red mahogany Bongo a few years ago, I wanted that, but with a full rosewood neck. I actually prefer neptune blue to trans red, since I already have a 30th Anniversary Stingray in that color. And the roasted maple neck on my BFR Big Al is pretty much perfect. So now all I need to do is settle on a pickup combination. I'm thinking HSp, but I've got a few weeks to figure it out.

You guys rock.

Damn!!! This is soooo not the year for me to be purchasing a new instrument, but I was kicking myself for missing the 2012 run of PDN Bongo's, so second chance here!

A.J was that 4H bongo in the pics really built in real life? If so, could you give us any thoughts on whether the maple fretboard has any noticable effect on the way it sounds?

Bought a Candy Tangerine Bongo 4 HH w/ full rosewood neck. Sounded best after playing 6 or 8 basses at Bass Central in Orlando. Great guys , were willing to keep opening bass cases till I was tired. What a great afternoon. Great motorcycle ride(200 mi RT), new bass. WOO HOO!
The rosewood neck did sound different than a rosewood fretboard, more full and , tho deeper, still defined and crisp. Seems like it can be adjusted for everything from funk and metal to country, blues . What do you folks find with the rosewood necks?
Oh, have a Fender Starcaster( the new one) that needs to go also a Japanese Squire jazz. ya cant have my 74 Precision, it has a forever home with me.

Fretless Bongo

Are there fretless options for the bass?

Bass Central has a used one, rosewood neck, I think. Plays nice but I need frets for my skillset.
Their # is 800-545-8813. I know the number cause Im wearing their Tee shirt that came with my Bongo. Way cool...

Wow... nice offering!! I wonder how much the mahogany will add to the weight? I'd love to have one, but (my luck) I'd probably end up with a 12 pounder.
