Like he said - with the Mark IV you've got to give it some space. I've got a combo and micing right next to it does not produce the best results, IMO. But step away a little and - oh yeah!

I guess we're kind of getting off topic here...but does anyone know if the new mesa amps have a smoother distortion than the Mark IV series????

I'm playing my Mark IV medium head through a Recto 2x12 (sealed with Celestion Vintage 30s)...
I need to get a lot more time in with it and tweak it some more (I just got it 2 weeks ago)... I don't understand why everybody scoops the mids for their lead sounds (I haven't spent much time tweaking the EQ yet)... so I based these settings on some settings that a friend gave me (but I changed them a little... he was scooping he hell out of the mids and turned the highs all the way down on the preamp but was then boosting the highs way back on the EQ... I didn't understand why you would do that so I leveled the mids and highs off at 5 and went a little less aggressive on the EQ
Here are my settings:
EQ: on
Lead Voicing: Harmonics
Power Amp: Triode, Class A
Tweed power
