I received an answer from Musik Meyer concerning the release date of SBMM Sub instruments here in AT/GE/CH:
They will come onto the market approximately in July; SRP will be EU 409,- for the Ray4 and 439,- for the Ray5.

Best, Matthias

Thanks for the info Matthias. Just as I expected, way overpriced here in Europe. Hunting for made in the USA Musicman SUB's is still the best option! :)

the body woods and the level of hardware are where we saved. These will be made in the same factory, line as the SBMM premium line. We have a lot of experience "behind the scenes" and really have great relationships with the best parts makers and suppliers.

Pat,

Where exactly is the SBMM premium line manufactured?

Thanks Pat,
So are all the measurement specs equal to the EBMM rays for the SR4 & SR5 subs. I have been reading that the SR4 has the same specs as a Sterling as far as nut width. Is that correct?

Very close in specs, but there are some differences. Because the manufacturing is overseas, we have more metric specs. So some of the specs come out a little different, but real close.

USA 5 string nut width is 44.5 mm, ours is 45 mm. Little things like that. Body shapes are identical. Neck shapes vary a bit in thickness. We try to get it as close as possible.

Thanks Pat,

That clears a few things, but what about this?

Features
Solid hardwood bodies
34″ full scale maple necks
Medium jumbo frets
Satin tinted neck finish
Narrow 38 mm nut width
2 band onboard active preamp, cut & boost
Large heavy duty bass bridge with full adjustments
Easy access truss rod adjuster
6 bolt super strong neck joint

The above specs I assume are for the SR4 right? This is more in line with a Sterling, so is this the case? Is the neck narrow like a Sterling 4?

The Ray4 shares the narrow nut width as found on our Ray34 Classic Active bass. It is more narrow than a regular Ray34 (or StingRay).

I'm going to buy a Ray 4 tomorrow, but I have a question first. Does anyone know if the pick guard on the SUB Ray is a standard EBMM size?
