Welcome to "THE" place! You have a beautiful SR5, looks a lot like mine.

I liked the Slinky's that came on mind, they're still on it. :D

A lot of people here like a lot of different strings, but I guess I'm a fan of EB strings. I'm even loving a set of flatwounks on my SR4.

Anyway, glad to have you here. Make yourself at home and have some fun!

Welcome to the land of the (Ernie) Ballers!

This is a great forum with good 7 helpful (if zany and zealotous) people -- you'll enjoy it here and you'll love that Ray!

EDIT: Hey - is that a can of Bud on the countertop?

Which strings do you use on your Stingray? Any thoughts on Elixer's vs. EB's on your MM?

Sorry, stupid question, but I have a week before the bass arrives and I just need something to keep my mind occupied until then!

I am now sold on D'addario Pro Steels (Super Bright Roundwounds) .45-.65-.80-.100-.130 for a 5-String.;)

Elixir's are good, but too expensive for what you get, in my opinion.

Just find the strings you love. It will sound good with fishing lne on it. The feel of the SR5 is where the magic is at.

IMHO

I've been watching the UPS Tracking page for the arrival of my SR5 like an 8yr old watching the weatherman track Santa Claus on Christmas Eve! The due date (from now on I may refer to dates as ASR5 instead of AD) is this Friday; 01/20/00 ASR5...yes, that does seem right.

Anyway, the good news is that I was able to sell my old Ibanez sr405 and an old Fender Strat and Fender amp in two days, so much of the new bass cost has been made up. So it looks like I won't have to deal with gaining a bass and losing a wife in the same week! Yeah for me! Looks like purchasing a EB not only brings you a new sound, but good karma as well. :p

Wow, you're hard core if you can deal with those Pro Steels. My Black Bongo came strung with those and I felt like I was playing sandpaper but way more zingy:p . Then again I like flats...
