Gave up smoking last year and still surviving ... so this year its :

1) Drop the alcohol (less calories = less fat)

2) Resign from the band (just done that)

3) either --
Sell my '80 MM Fretless Leftie / Trace Elliot to a real musician
-- or --
start playing seriously again instead of fooling around and doing nothing useful

4) Get attractive/fit enough for my wife to start fancying me again ... (now that really will be hard)

Penis reduction surgery.

Don't laugh, I'm tired of living like a freak.

Would you consider a straight trade for around 60 lb of unwanted body weight ???

Golem,

Here are some guitar playing tips.

* Strum it only between the nut and the tuning pegs.

* If the guitar has a tremolo bar, rest your strumming arm on it at all times.

* Raise the pickups so that they double as string mutes.

That ought to keep your from developing excess skill. ;)

yUP .. The combo is a Trace Elliot 7215SM (see what it looks like here http://www.harmony-central.com/Events/WNAMM98/Trace_Elliot/SMC-Series.html but mine is older - no compressors) - If you don't know it, its the GP7 preamp and a 300watt power amp with all the Trace sound - equivalent to sticking the AH350SM head unit (review here - http://www.bgra.net/reviews/trace-elliot-ah350sm-1-rvw.html) into a reflex cab with a Celestion/Trace Elliot 15" speaker.

The combogives out around 150 W RMS, and it's really penetrating, but for battering down recalcitrant drummers, it can also sit on top of a Trace Elliot 4x10 cab. When that's connected it's running at 4 ohms and all up that's 300W of real crunch .. all dressed up in that lovely green carpet.

I'm still plotting my future, but I guess toyou're in the USA so shipping wqould be way too expensive - they's a heavy pair of buggers .. even tho they're small.

More tips:

- Turn everything up to 11 and don't pay any attention to people who tell you to turn it down. Claim you can't hear yourself if you don't crank it. Alternatively, claim that the amp only sounds good if it's being driven as hard as possible.

- Shoot for as much feedback as possible.

- Expect everyone else to follow you. Why else would the call it LEAD guitar?

- Ignore everything except what you're doing. This includes things like the end of songs.

- Hit every chord as hard as you can. Subtlety is for p*ssies.

- Insert as many Eddie Van Halen pinch harmonics and tapping lines as possible. Play them all on the wrong fret, at the wrong tempo.

- Don't mute anything....let those strings breathe!

- Stand with your feet as far apart as possible and sling your guitar so low that you can't play anything articulate...'cause it looks cool.

- Always wear a "guitar god" grimace.

- Play with your thumb over the top of the neck.

- Upstroke? What's an upstroke?

- Play the wrong chord and INSIST that it's the right one (works really well if you choose one that's in key).

- When others are talking between songs, randomly play something (anything) to drown them out.

I used to make New Year's resolutions.

Then one year I made a resolution to not make anymore resolutions.

That's the only one that I've ever been able to keep.

Actually did that myself a few years ago. Saves headaches each new year.

On the other side of this thread....Had my last drink October 17, 1987, my wedding day. Still Sober.....Still Married.

One day at a time Dude.:)

Is there some significance to this? That is interesting. Usually marriage makes you drink.:p Congrats on a good marriage, I too have been with the same lady 20 years!!:D
