NGD! Hot Rod Red HH AL "The Total Package"

Congratz! I just recieved something in the mail from GC yesterday and the were promoting the HH Al cherryburst JP and the Reflex. Did any of you guys that saw the Reflex play it? I would love to know what the uncovered pickups do to the tone

I played a Reflex yesterday in Boston. I have not played a 25th since the Petrucci meet at DuBaldos last summer, however. I played both for only a short time and can't say I noticed any difference.

I did play 2 different HH Als, however. Both were with trem and one was covered, one uncovered. I can't give you analytical comparisons.....I can only say that after playing the covered one, then the uncovered one, I put the uncovered back on the rack and kept playing the covered. I was going through a Boogie Mk V amp and going from super clean with both pickups to mildly distorted (think ZZ top to AC/DC) with neck then both then bridge.

If I keep talking about it, I'll have to drive in and by it.......

I played the Reflex and there's no tone difference between covered and uncovered pups (to me anyway).

How does the neck feel , compared to the Axis?

Thanks bro! The neck feels meatier but, in a good way. It's still very comfortable to play like the Axis neck and being a RW neck, it's super smooth!

Very nice; you have to love those crackwood - er, rosewood necks!

I wish the AL neck worked for me; I love the look and feel of the body, but the neck is just a bit to thick in the first few frets (say 1st-5th); causes tendonitis flair-ups that I don't get with the Silo Special or Axis.

I left that blank for the moment, since it won't be available for a few months.

I'm actually on the fence- thinking vintage pearloid. White pearloid might be too much on the tobacco, but I dunno.

Guess I'll be posting a "Hey Fogman I need pics" thread in the near future

I would go with vintage pearloid over the white pearloid but, I'm also thinking that the Tort " Shell " would look awesome!
