So I'm a big fan of tort... I'm also possibly a little OCD... I wanted to find the nicest tort I could for my 93 trans white SR4... ultimate tort for my ultimate bass... Enter Spitfire tort, the only guy making tort these days that looks anything like the vintage fender stuff, pricey but worth it to me...

For some comparison: Chandler's, I believe the same material as OEM musicman stuff, more brown:

This is pickguardian stuff, more red, I like it but wasn't quite there:

And the Spitfire tort:

Very nice looking Tort, very red, looks great!
Just thought id throw in a couple of Tort pics, this is the only bass/guitar that I have tort on (recently swapped a tort guard on an acoustic guitar for straight black for a more classic look but that's another story). Tort seems to do something interesting that I cant put my finger on.... I have tried a plain black guard on this stingray and it looked good in theory but seemed to "shrink" the bass for lack of a better word?

It had the matte black one, I don't have the original one to this bass but I have one stashed away in case I ever wanted to go back to the stock look but I doubt I will.
