Welcome to Day 10 of my annual New Year's New Guitar Days (NYNGD)!
Thanks for the kind words and comments on NYNGD #2021-9!
OK... I know... It's been nearly a month since I posted the previous NYNGD. It's been a roller coaster month. On 3/31 (right after posting NYNGD #2021-9) I went to a work party in NYC. The first time "in the office" and commuting to NYC in 2022, and only the second time in the past 2 years. And at the work party, four of us caught COVID. Not sure who was patient zero, but we got it good. So I was out for a week or so with COVID. In the end, I am fine, but it set me back and work and I needed to recover after I recovered! Then, my sister-in-law -- a 44 year old, super-healthy woman who won her class in an Iron Man competition last year -- died of what we believe is a heart attack (autopsy still pending) during a run. Our family understandably is devastated. So all of this set me back on NYNGD and, while these are fun, in the grand scheme family and health gotta come first.
Having said all that, it's really annoying that this thing that is supposed to be the 2-3 weeks leading up to new years day is still not finished in late April! Jeez! Thanks for being patient, guys. The good news is this: I have photographed the remaining six guitars for NYNGD 2021 and have a plan to release one per week over the next 6 weeks. And I've got some surprises in store! No, not an Armada, but some cool stuff nonetheless!
Alright, folks. Day #10. Let's get to it!
Today's guitar is a Luke III BFR in Classic Black Sparkle from the March 2021 BFR Run. This guitar checks ALL the boxes for me. Great finish - CHECK! Floyd Rose - CHECK! Floating Floyd Rose - CHECKAMUNDO! Stunning, mindblowing roasted maple neck - CHECK! Roasted maple fretboard - YEP! Unique black block inlays - WOW!
This guitar looks and feels amazing. Twiddle the whammy bar and the Floyd flutters wonderfully! Awesome tone! Great playability! And a looker! This guitar is awesome!
I'll be back next week (I promise!) with another NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Day! Thanks for looking everyone!
Past Days:
The new EBMM message board limits the number of characters in a post so I can't put a list of direct links in the post. Click here for an index.
(The back story in case you're new to my NYNGD: For the past couple of years I've done a fun thing that most of you I think enjoyed, and I thought I would do it again this year. Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date... So, as a fun holiday thing, let's launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day leading up to New Years Eve! In the past I've received PM's about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars.
The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!)
(Also, in case anybody gets any funny ideas -- these guitars are not at my house. They are all in my very secure and alarmed studio facility. I usually only have two guitars floating around the house...)
