It's a great question, Racerx. I agree with your reaction. If you take the guitar outside during the day in full daylight, it washes out a little more and looks closer to the SW photos. In other words, they photographed with a LOT of white light. However, in a normally lit room (and I suspect even under stage lights) the color is more like my photos. When it arrived and I opened the case I was like, "Holy sh!t, this is stunning!" It is indeed way better than the SW photos. My photos are pretty accurate, EXCEPT in full harsh white light.
I felt the same way, Jeff, when mine arrived. I opened the case and couldn’t believe it looked so awesome!!! A real blue sparkle! The Sweetwater photos really did not do that finish justice. But man it’s a sweet guitar. Great score!

Great guitar and even greater finish. I'd say it's one of the most exciting sparkle colors in the past 5 years or so.
