But Jon....he was NOT GUILTY, according to a jury of his peers. Ahem.

It's not fair, but it's also unreasonable to compare Martha's case to any other. Each must stand on its own merits.

I will be curious to see what sort of justice is served when the bigwig Enron thieves have their day in court.

I for one was happy to see her get it. Maybe now will see some real vanity plates!

As far as OJ - He would have gotten a lot more than 5 months...

Of course Martha didn't have Johnny Cochran :D

do you know why?

yea, WTF.

do you know why?

becuase unfortunately 50% of the people in this country have an IQ that is lower than 100. They hear rhymes like, "If the glove don't fit, then you've got to acquit"

and then look at each other like, "WOW, HE RHYMED! HE IS SMART AND MUST BE RIGHT."

If I could rework the judicial system I would create a system that had career jurists who would travel around and be the jury for cases. They would be educated, would know the law, and would be able to spot Bull $%^# from a mile away.

But as they say, that is why the good lawyers get the big money. They know how to maniuplate stupid people.

What do you expect from a majority that think Brittany Spears and Snoop Dog have talent??

armybass you are on for the beer! I will drink it and fall immediately asleep, as this night float stuff (6pm to 730 am) has me getting about 5 hours a sleep a ... day, and I am a walking zombie.

bassmonkee-- What is the Chewbacca defense? I can't wait to hear abou this

cgworkman-

I agree that Britney's got absolutely nothing, NOTHING, cept for a camera friendly face (and can dance a little)

But will have to take issue with you on Snoop. The man is a bit of a musical genius. Sure his most recent stuff has become some sort of parody of his former self, Gin and Juice is just about one of the best rap songs of all time. I would even go as far as to say that the first verse borders on genius, and I am totally serious about this....

With so much drama in the L-B-C
It's kinda hard bein Snoop D-O-double-G
But I, somehow, some way
Keep comin up with funky ass @#$% like every single day

Dude- its kindof hard being snoop. But some how, some way....

I feel very strongly about this.

Pete right on bro. Now a different view, football is more important the eating is. Hell half the football players get through college and don't read. Get big contracts and live life like kings. What kid won't wanna be one of them? When ya are done with football move onto basketball. NO need to say more or I would just end up rattling on that account.

Question? Are half of all the bass players non readers of music? If so we could get off too LOL. How many kids wanna play the bass?>> Answer lots would if the bongo was in every store.

Seems funny in a world that one beer before driving will get you arrested and your driving priveledges taken away for a year or more. Maybe rightfully so butt....... How bout selling drugs at the local junior high? Probably be out of jail and off the hook in less than 48 hours. WTF applies to the whole world in some cases IMHO.

Man, i gotta agree here! WTF DOES apply to the whole world! The Bottom line here people is that no one wants to take responsibility for ANYTHING that they screw up. It's always someone else's fault: Yeah my dad read horror stories to me when I was a kid so now I'm killing people, or Bully's at school stole my lunch money so now I'm swindling money from large corporations, etc, and all that crap.

But, the totally screwed up judicial system allows it to happen: I've smoked cigs for 50 years , now my lungs hurt. Can i get 50 millions? Yes, ok great.

I vote for UVPete!

Bassply, you said it all!!! I am a school teacher working with 7th and 8th graders... it is ALWAYS someone else's fault. Sadly it isn't the kids that are at fault (for the most part), it is the parents. They are far worse than the kids. Each one is raising a future "all star" that does no wrong. Most of these kids have far more in their rooms than I did going up in my entire house. They get anything and everything so "their life can be better than their parents" which includes the lifting of responsibility for one's actions. I am overweight... it isn't McD's fault... I just have never met a twinkie I didn't like. This whole process starts as kids but it is hard to enforce when this is all the crap you see on TV and your parents don't have the time, patience or understanding (or all 3) to explain it to you. And after teaching 9 years, the trend I see is only getting worse... much worse.

I'll step down off my soapbox now ;) (and everyone please realize that it is a generalization... there are good kids and parents out there - but the bad ones are making it rough for all of us).

It's like the parents are afraid of the kids. They want to be the kids cool friend instead of the disciplining parent. Yet, in a muddled up world where spanking your kid is a crime and yelling at them is seen as "diminishing their self-esteem", a lot of parent are scared to do anything and choose to leave it up to others. And they will be the first to blame others for trying to do their job for them. Again trying to be cool for the kids. Is there abuse? Yes. Should something be done about it? Yes. But, doing nothing to prevent the possibility of something is just losing control of the kids.

Adults also want the same blameless free ride as the kids now. So, you get the "it's not my fault" syndrome in all areas of society. We went from being a country of "rugged individualists" to one of "who is going to take care of me".

Enough!!!
