Kicking oneself in the arse sounds rather silly...

Wait a minute:

Ah, so kicking oneself in the arse is an official silly walk! As you were, gentlemen.

Shaver-

I think, as often is the problem with E- stuff, sarcasm is often lost-- and I'm sure somewhere back a friendly e-chat between Bush Sr. and Saddam Hussein was confused by one of them as serious when they were just kidding-- and then look what happened.

Nobody is saying that people should "beat" their children. It is all somewhat in jest. What we are saying is that kids, by and large, do not have the same respect for their elders, work ethic, sense of right and wrong, desire to do something productive with themselves and on and on and on.

My father had to smack me upside the head twice when I was a kid, and I'm glad he did it. It made me think to myself-- "I am going to listen to what this dude says, becuase that s#$t HURT!"

This really is not a debatable topic. If you are a productive, good kid (you said it yourself) then great. We are not saying that you need a beating.

We are lamenting the state of the UTEs of today, and how perhaps a little old school corporal punishment would perhaps help a little.

And dude-- your speling is horibal on this bass forem.
(that was sarcasm... but also true)

Pete

Shaver, ease up. If you read up:
1st notice the topic tag... you don't like, you don't have to read.

2nd, and as stated earlier, it isn't all kids - but it is becoming an ever increasing problem with society. When I was younger, I resented the fact that many adults pointed out problems with my generation (I am 33). Simple fact is, looking back on it, they were right. There are many kids who need an a*s beating for nothing more than attitude alone (like the 14 year olds that were trying to run my little girl over with their bikes... running over a 15 month old because, and I am not lying here, "we're bored.").

3rd, again, if you would read, it isn't just children. Look at what started the topic. It is people like Martha Stewart and OJ - the guy I saw on COPS tonight who got caught shooting up and said with a straight face "it wasn't me" when the needle was hanging out of his arm... then it was "oh, that is insulin... honest officer"... then it was "it wasn't my stuff, it was my roomates"... and then (and this was my favorite) "I lost my job and had to do it."

It just comes down to accepting and taking responsibility for your actions.

No sh*t!!! The kid tore through my yard and wanted to use my girl as a speed bump. Lucky I was out there with "Mr. Garden Hose" and provided a barrier that "accidently" knocked the boy off his bike. When my neighbor and I took him down teh street to talk to his father all he could say was "So, I was bored."
Did I metion that my neighbor is a cop and saw the whole thing go down :D ? Let's just say the boy is going to have a very long, hard and BORING summer ahead of him.

I left it up to Shaver, and I think he now sees that none of this was aimed specifically at him, so.....you boys go nuts.

Me, I've been playing my Stingray 5 to Elvis tunes.

Hey Jonny!

I have a 1965 Melody Maker but it is currently in what I call, um, "kit form". I bought it from a guy who decided to strip the finish and refin it, only he didn't do the stripping correctly and never actually got around to the refin.

All the little parts are in a ziploc bag.

Duane was relatively talented, yep, I'll give him that, although I grew up in Mississippi and played enough Allman Bros to last me a lifetime. Now that I haven't done it in about thirty years, I can listen to it without problems, but it's taken a LONG time.

The drummer for the Allmans is from my hometown! Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

And my cousin, Owen Hale, plays drums on every record ever recorded in Nashville!

Me, I sit home and play my bass in my purple studio.

I need a freakin' jam here, at least. So far, Dallas has not been my dream come true.

We need to get together, Juan. Big fiesta at Camp Bovine the weekend of 6-8 August...people coming in from Maine, Portland, you name it. We got room for you in the studio!
