What I think is cool/interesting, is the reflection in the bridge is always green.

Dude, that is so true, that green reflection when you're looking at the gold is killer. Opening the case on a brand new DD2 is a mind blowing experience. The air feels like it got sucked out of the room and you can't breath for a minute or two because the beauty of the bass just sucker punched you in the gut. Congrats on the killer bass and also to Mr. Dargie for creating something so excellent.

photo's... courtesy of my wife. I suck at taking pictures almost as much as I do at playing bass. (she loves the bass btw. )

Fantastic shots. That bass is really something special...SERIOUS ebony.

How does the ebony feel/sound? I'm curious. The only Ebony board I have played was on a bass made of what appeared to be half of the Amazon Rainforest.

Wow, this thread has dropped to page three, could it be that due to the economy and other factors that the Dargie 2 run was smaller than Dargie 1? I think that coming so close to the 25th and Big Al that the ability of some to procure said DD2's was maybe cost prohibitive. They haven't all delivered yet so there could be signs of more DD2's to come, in the meantime I took a couple of pics of the Bongos relaxing in the mancave in my new stressless recliner. The BD bongo just sits astonished that his DD2 brother can change colors by just changing places, outrageous!

Great new pics from Markbass and Biker4Him!

I continue to be amazed at how the colors on my DD2 Bongo5 shift. Its like the thing's alive.

Quick story...
I practice in a corner of our family room by the piano and my bass sits on a stand near a low & tall window that faces south. The other morning, I was shuffling through the room to get my first cup of coffee from the kitchen. The sunrise was just breaking in the East and light was streaming almost horizontally across my back yard. I saw a glow across the room that stopped me in my tracks. The left edge of the bass was getting hit by the early morning sunlight and was ablaze in sort of an orangey color. the right side of the bass, still in shadows, was that darker olive tone. I just stood there shaking my head in wonder. It was beautiful. No, I didn't think to take a pic (remember, I hadn't had my coffee yet). :)

What a fantastic instrument!

I remain curious about the numbers for DD2 as a measure of uniqueness or rarity.
Hoping that in time we'll learn how many got made of each flavor.

Well, there is at least one other person out there who has the exact same bass as I do (Bongo 5 HHp). Plus I think that there was another for sale at BC.

Somewhere on these forums, there was a post containing all the production numbers for the first DD run. I imagine they'll post the DDII numbers after the color-shifting dust has settled.

Oh, and pics are on the way.:D

That'd be me! :D

Interesting, I hadn't seen the one @ BC - but its definately there - just looked. So with that, we know for sure there are at least three DD2 Bongo 5 HHp's in the world...

Dan just posted in the serial number thread that so far there have been 4 DDII Bongo 5 HHp's i guess there could be more in the future.

Does anyone remember or know whether the unlined fretless boards are going to have the single inlay at the top like the DD1's?

I received my StingRay HH SLO yesterday. It really is gorgeous. Sounds great too! I think the only downside for me is that it weighs 11 lbs. Good thing I got the SLO neck...

I think my favorite settings are the rear pickup solo and the two together. I'll have to fool around a little more with the other combos. I actually do like the "mystery" setting that you get between the two positions closest to the neck.

I just got my DD2 HH Bongo 5....all I can say is wow. Totally amazing...I can't really add anything that hasn't already been said here...or show better pictures than have already been posted (and I don't have a Dog to stand next to it to make it worth the effort :) )

I know this might be blasphemy in a way but, well, staring at it got me wondering if there has ever been a 6 or 7 string (skinny string) version of the Bongo design ?? (I haven't had much luck trying to answer that question with searching...."Bongo 6 string/ guitar" doesn't really help...LOL. The body shape is just soooooooo cool.....I love it. The big round curve of the back is so comfortable for my right arm to sit on...kind of reminds me of an ES335 that way..but with rounded over edges of course. The top horn's ergonomics and curves are just too cool looking down on...just a great body design. I love the headstock too....just think it's cool. I play guitar too and just think a matching set would be cool. The market likely would not support it I know, and I have read all the "EBMM has so many models on the market...and all you do is ask for more !!!" comments so I know it's probably an unrealistic request....I was just wondering....hope that's not too offensive to the long time devotees. I really just love the ergonomics & look of the body and think it would be a cool guitar too...but then again I'm not a purist :)

...the bass is just stupefying: sound, feel, playability, look, the ebony board makes me just giggle it's so sexy (another reason I got thinking about guitars...I have a soft spot for ebony fret boards)...and the paint job live and in person is just as amazing as everyone says. The best bass I've ever played by a huge margin...hands down.

Don

PS - I put this potentially blasphemous "question" here just to bump this incredible thread back up to the front page...again :) LOL

All around the world...
...well, I got one of my Dargies today.
The finish is really beautiful and the inlays are just amazing. I had to plug this babe to my amp right away and found that the sound is a lot better than I expected (but I still like the Ebony much better  )

I'll post some pics as I find the time to shoot some :)

Realize I'm resurrecting an old thread here, but wanted to share my latest aquistion, found here on the For Sale or Trade thread about a month or so ago. This bass is truly a 'Work Of Art'; had been searching for one for a while. Can't believe how amazing the finish is, and the ebony board and abalone inlays are just icing on the cake. Playability and tone options are phenomenal as well. I am VERY happy.:)
