What I'm wondering is how the MIDI jack is wired. Since it's only one jack and the guitar is capable of both MIDI IN and MIDI OUT, is there a breakout cable?

You program it to be MIDI IN or OUT, you can't do both at the same time.....you can thank MIDI protocol for that one. However, breakout box...........hmmmmmmm.......

Thanks, Drew. Is the pinout standard MIDI, then? I see it's 8 pin on the diagram. Will it accept standard 5 pin cables?

Wait. so that's ((1 in parallel with 5 in parallel with (4 and 2 in series)) in parallel with 2 again) in series with 3?

Must be something wrong here. Can't likely use the same coil twice unless I'm missing something.

You are indeed correct. The 'String Generator' is still in a beta stage and isn't 100% complete. There is an extra set of parentheses, and p(2) should not be there.

The configuration represented as (((1p5p(4s2)))p(2))s3 should actually be (1p5p(4s2))s3

Hoping to have this all sorted out soon. As you can imagine it is much easier to write these strings out by hand compared to the logic within a script used to auto generate it. Lots of new features / maintenance will be going on as time progresses.

I'm excited to see these guitars finally in the wild and user's enjoying the experience!

But to further elaborate: Although the above representation is incorrect, in some situations it is impossible to explain the grid without using the same preset a second time. Here is an example where two complex parallel configurations are joined in series:

Oh man I'm so pumped.

I fear my poor Stingray's going to miss some playing time after I get this thing...
