Uh huh, I see.

Well, tell me. For a Noob who just started posting on this board, where does the post say: ERNIE BALL CUSTOMER SERVICE, oh yeah, I'm the bosses son. I didn't know that when I called him last night, either. Scott Ball? Could be a cousin, brother-in-law. I don't appreciate your sarcasm when it is not justified.
Do you want to know why he called me, because it wasn't to help me out. I posted prices on the forum, prices that I was mis-quoted on. As soon, as those prices were read, I got an email from a seller that said:

"Jon,

I just saw your post on the EB forums, and after reading it and seeing Scott Ball's reply, I realized that I hadn't quoted you for the quilt top. That's an error on my part, the quilt top adds $400 to the final price of the guitar. Sorry!"

What kind of **** is that? Misquote? More like somebody called somebody and said, 'hey, what kind of prices are you giving out'. What's up with that? I mean, doesn't EB charge the distributors the same price based on cost/unit before mark-ups? So why the policy unless that mark-ups themselves are not uniform.

If you are replying to me could you please reread my post? I can't find the sarcasm myself. Was it the part where I said to stick around with the forum? Was it the part where I mentioned how good the customer service was? Was it the little wink and a smile and the end of my post? ;) This forum is full of people that love these guitars and I'm guilty of that myself.
Maybe that passion comes across a bit strong? We also like other guitars/brands as well.

Colin

PS: After reading this post it does come across a little sarcastic, so I apologize in advance ;)

Nice. Now it's starting to sound like the Carvin board.

Well in any case, I hope you are happy with your purchase and I hope you play the hell out of it. But I still suggest to buy an EBMM. I ordered my first one without ever even trying one out, and that's that. I am gonna be selling my other nice Ibnz geetar, and replacing it with a Luke. Anyway, enjoy man.

For some reason, I've never picked up a shechter. Always thought they looked nice though, and they are easier to find then our beloved EB's in music stores.

I wouldn't mind hearing a review of it when you've played it for a couple of weeks.

I might go try one next time I'm in GC.

If you have a TL, have you been to the Acurazine forums?

Thanks.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the understanding. If you would like and if it's acceptable, I will post my feelings/opinion of the guitar. I ordered it from DrumCityGuitarLand. They also sell EB. I was told that I could return the guitar for refund or credit, so guess what I'll get if I don't like it, a Luke.
Don't get me wrong guys, to me this was a big (expensive) decision. Last night, I even considered selling my Takamine Acoustic and Presonus Firepod so I could buy both the 20th and the Luke. I'm not a professional guitar player, nor would would I consider myself a good guitar player, mediocre at best. I play as a hobby, because it's fun and relaxes me. I'm just so happy with a guitar in my hands, as I'm sure many of you know the feeling. Perhaps the lure (for me anyway) of the 20th. was the fact that it resembled more of a traditional guitar with it's hard-tail and chrome covered pickups. Also, I have small hands and the 10" radius neck was tempting, that and that oil/wax blend (uh oh, I'm getting excited). The lure of the Luke (hey, that sounds funny), was the playability of the neck and the versatility of sounds (both of which I could only read about). But the Schecter truly is an inspiring-looking guitar, it's absolutely one of a kind, and it is different, but with a traditional feel (think smoothed out/rounded SG body meets birdseye maple). It is shown in the Schecter 2006 catalog (remember, only one exists), and I will be receiving a letter of authenticity with serial number from the president of schecter.
All of this doesn't mean that I don't like EB. I believe EB to be first-rate as I have read nothing, and I mean nothing bad about their products (and I've spent HOURS on the web, as I'm sure many of you have). I can't say that about any other manufacturer (including Schecter, PRS, Gibson, Fender, Carvin, etc.) But I bought a guitar, not a company. I have the opportunity to try and send back and when making an expensive internet purchase, that means a lot.
Re: Acurazine. Actually no, but a buddy of mine, who just bought a TSX forwarded me the link, so I guess I'll see you there.
Thanks, darchirnoj

Well, actually, I ended up buying an Audi rather than a TSX so i got flamed a bit over there. Hey, kinda like you over here:p

The truth about guitars, as many of us here have way more than 1, is that our favorite is still our favorite no matter how many we try or buy. I've got 4 Lukes and they feel and sound a bit different from eachother.

The important thing is that you find a guitar that inspires you. Safe to say the majority of music that many of us listen to has been written performed and recorded by non music man instruments.

Actually, you sir, made the better choice. After I purchased my TL, I saw how high Audi was rated as far as performance and safety. Very impressed. Unfortunately, unlike a guitar purchase, I couldn't return my car. Oh well, the Bluetooth w/ Navi keeps me happy.

4 Lukes, damn! Do tell! You know, one of the good things about the Schecter purchase is that it didn't break me ($1550). Uh, oh. Can I post a Schecter price?
What that means is, if I still want a Luke, perhaps I'll get one. Just have to clear it with the boss (my wife):D .

Yes, I agree. An inspiring guitar for an aspiring musician (hey, maybe EB should trademark that last line;) ).

BTW I've seen Lukes marked down quite a lot during the memorial day sale (end of may) at Guitar center. Worth keeping an eye out.

darchirnoj,

I suppose you can post a Schecter price. I think the main reason that EB asks us not to post STREET prices here is out of respect for their dealers.

Yes, different dealers charge different prices. They all pay the same to EBMM for their guitars, and then they mark 'em up however they want. I guess that's one of the cons of capitlism, but the pro is that you can buy from any dealer that you choose.

Dargin probably realized that you were misquoted (based on the price you posted) and wanted you to be aware of it as soon as possible. I think he did a great service to you, not some shady scam to jack up pricing. Had you moved forward and placed an order, the erroneous pricing would have been caught and there may have been bad feelings somewhere.

We can, and do, post MSRP for EBMM guitars and basses here because it keeps the playing field level for the dealers.

It would also probably be bad if various EBMM dealers were on here trying to undercut each other all day long.. it would make for bad relationships between EB and their dealers. It would also be unfair to those dealers without an internet presence.

I recently received my 2nd EBMM guitar, a Morse Y2D. It is also too nice to play.. but I've been playing it anyway/ :)

Yeah, I'd like to apologize for my remarks regarding that issue. I meant no offense to anyone, especially Mr. Ball or Pete Dubaldo. It's just, well I guess I'm a sensitive type of guy. Just before reading all those things on the forum last night, I had just tried out a Gibby SG 61' at a store. Needless to say, I was very disappointed, but excited that I could narrow my choice down to two EBs. When I left to go to my evening job, I immediately jumped on the computer to see what the seller had to say about the piezo option on the 20th. That%

Sorry, I messed up that post. Here it is.

When I left to go to my evening job, I immediately jumped on the computer to see what the seller had to say about the piezo option on the 20th. That's when I read the e-mail re: Scott Ball and the forum. I kinda' freaked; I immediately go to the forum to see what he is talking about and see Scott's post (only I didn't know it was Scott or who Scott was). I felt bad because it was as if I had done something wrong. Perhaps I was overly-sensitive and jumped to conclusions. It just felt weird; and the post from Scott doesn't say anything about clarification of prices. I thought I was going to call and get chewed out by somebody; even the post after his says something about removing/deleting the prices.
Today, when I called Jason at drumcityguitarland to inquire first, then order the guitar (the Schecter), he started telling me about the guitar, how it was one of a kind, that it was in their 2006 catalog, about the letter of authenticity and man, let me tell you, I WAS EXCITED! My co-workers saw me and said I was sweating. I was all pumped up. That's how I wanted to feel when I ordered my first Ball; I wanted it to be special. But I promise you, there are no hard feelings. I'm just a passionate type of guy; I have to be to get up at 1am to type this response (time here in deep south Texas).
I look forward to being a permanent member of this board. I hope to one day purchase an EB. I'm very picky with my stuff and I'm a sucker for excellent customer service; why I'll drive 300 miles to guy cars from Gunn Auto and why I only buy my nutritional products from Beverly International.
Anyway, you guys have a good weekend.
Take care,
darchirnoj (Jon R. Gonzalez)

Like Kbaim said, get what will inspire you to play. We are rabid EBMMers, but still appreciate other makes and models. Big Poppa (Sterling Ball, the owner) has even stated on here that variety is good.

Hope you get that Luke soon, you might find your Schecter will spend more time in it's case though. ;)

It's here. Went home during lunch and my neighbor stopped me on his way out; he signed for my FedEx package. Quite simply, it's beautiful. I really can't describe how I felt when I opened the case. I would like to post pictures if it's acceptable, and if not, I will understand. I don't know, however, how to post pics since I have never done so. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Get yourself a photobucket account it's free. Then just link the photo's to your posts. PM me if you need any help, or I can host them for you.

Jon,

No hard feelings, it takes alot to offend me! I knew that price had to be wrong, because the guitar you asked for was over 3k retail! My thinking was that someone inexperienced had taken your order and was unaware of the correct costs.
But please refrain from posting other guitar manufacturers products on our forum. We don't like paying bandwith for that type of thing.

Oh ya, don't call me SIr, you are making me nervous. LOL :p

OK, no problem. I don't remember the sir thing, unless I said that over the phone message. Yeah, I probably did. That's a bad habit of mine.
If it's any consolation, I do have two Ernie Ball straps.:D
You guys take care and have a good one.
