I think it's worth noting that EB inherited both the Ray and the Sabre from the earlier owners of MusicMan, each with it's following, or lack of same.
BP will correct me if I'm wrong, but right now I'm assuming that if the Sabre had a large customer base, EBMM would not have discontinued it in the face of continuous marketplace demand.
OTOH, the Bongo was born with 2 pickups [shocked the delivery room staff, I'm sure], and it is the first uniquely EB bass, unique in not appearing to have any leftover DNA at all from the 1970's StingRays.
