Anybody who calls a Stingray a one trick Pony probably doesn't realize it is a Racehorse that you just have to know how to use..I can get most any tone I need from mine and I have NEVER had anyone complain or ask me to use another bass!

Peace,

T

Well everyone is allowed an opinion. I happen to think Jaco had a nice sound. I heard him live in a bar once and he just blew the walls out. I guess Jaco is not for everyone. I'll keep him as my little secret.::)

That's is probably the best and most unique "influence" I've ever heard from a bassist, but it just makes way too much sense. :)

Love it.

One of the better pro players in town (he plays an upright and custom hand made basses) came up to the stage after church here a while back.He asked to play my SR5 H.He sat down and started to play, he rolled a little bottom end off, boosted the mids.... you should have seen his face, almost like being in a trance, almost drooling.Did not say a word,he didn't have to, so after about 20 minutes he says...... man that really does do the trick ;)

IMO, the bass/amp is only part of the tone equation. Well-trained hands can make any bass sound diverse.

You are right indeedy - however it beats quite a lot of people here including me, how anyone can think a Stingray H is a one trick pony (unless their playing is not up to much - even a beginner can get several different sounds out of one!)

I have one exactly like this. I'm pretty sure it's designed to drive nails into wood. I've discovered it can also pull those nails back out. One time I used it to prop open a door. Another time, I killed a spider with it.

I tell you, it's a simple design, but the list of things one could do with such a thing grows ever longer.

Nice!

The spider-killing surface on that device is fairly small, so your aim must be true
(or the spider must be slow).

And a StingRay is a very versatile bass; I've heard them used beautifully in jazz, rock, funk, country, blues, Soul, etc.

Not the best Polka-Fest basses, tho I must admit. That would be best suited for the 25th Anniv. H/S.
Reasons too long to list....

And if this one doesn't work, get a bigger one!
