I wouldn't hold your breath for a live counter. If you want one, order one. If everyone waits until it's "almost there," it will be doomed to failure.

So will the fact that it's the middle of the afternoon and the post has been live for about an hour and a half. Of course, RoboChrist is just here to throw gas on a fire and not really interested in adding anything of substance.

I love my Sterling HH & getting a Bongo 5 HHp soon

BUT

You gotta admit this whole thing didn't go that well. At $2200-$2400 & a 2 week window for 1 color... its not going to happen. There are a lotta haters out there (I'm not one of them) & this added fuel to the fire. It DOES appear to be a passive aggressive way of telling the people I told you so, theres no demand to those inclined to want to believe that from the start.

Its too bad it didn't go over well... get a Lakland if you want 19mm spacing. I'll be fine with my 17.5mm Bongo 5. The economics don't work for ball, no big deal. Haters will hate & Fanboys will be fanboys. Neutral parties like myself wont look at this 19mm experiment as a bad or a good thing.

Day 1 of pre-orders and you're already suggesting that people should just "admit" to a sub-optimal response for the 19mm spacing?

I won't be getting one, as I don't feel there's a personal need, but I wouldn't be surprised to see this get put into production.

Let's do the math: 2 weeks to order, that's 14 days. They need 125 to put into production. So, EBMM needs to average 9 pre-orders a day. Not hard to see that if there's a demand, it should be no problem at all to move 9 orders a day. Not saying it's going to happen, but you're awfully jaded for something that has been "on sale" for less than 6 hours....

Kids these days - no patience at all.

If my Bongo 5 sells shortly, I'll pony up for my 19mm SR5... We'll see how this whole 'ting shakes out. I have to admit my buddies on TB are all grumbly about the MSRP / black thing... Silly bass players!

Big ole Harry, if you would have had it up for $1000 I would have bought it a week ago! Lets see how Ebay finishes.

As for "Jaded", no patience etc... I'm a neutral party. If I had to bet my house on if this happens or not... I'd bet not. Its not an emotional thing, its a calculated thing.

As for this going well... again, I'm a neutral party, I'm judging by a lot of TB reaction. I also felt that it was really cool big poppa was willing to do it but with a huge tag, limited colors & a short window I can UNDERSTAND why people think this is a game.

I'm not nearly as emotional about this as anyone else... I'm just making an educated guess & to be honest with you its pretty much on par with big poppa... not enough demand with economics being unfavorable.

I hear ya - I just question the economics case; This company is willing to do some very experimental / outside design and it is received very well; 19mm spacing is hardly "outside". But if they get 250 orders, we will have funded a new line for them - at which point EBMM can offer any color/configuration of SR5 in 19mm - so one *could* make the case that we will have done the world a solid. Okay, that sounds a bit heavy.... The Bass World a solid - that sounds better.

I would really be curious on what the numbers are for ordering. (Sorry that's probably in bad taste, but it would be nice to see...Kind of would keep the excitement level up a bit).;)

I have to say that I cannot believe the amount of negativity that I have seen regarding this topic. I hope those folks find some stoke in their life other then being pessimistic and negative :(
Personally I'm happy with how the current SR are just have I'm glad that this turns out as win-win for MM.

Good luck with the ordering...I hope the kickoff day was good.:)

would you reconsider the no outside us sale policy if we ask very nicely? :)

please? :)

it would probably be easier to get 125 orders if you let us europeans who are used to higher prices get in on the deal..
just for this limited period of time..
say eg: 15 orders from europe.. this wouldnt necessarily mean that the distributors lost 15 sales. some might not buy the 17,5mm version anyways. others would perhaps like what might be a collectible in 30 years from now..

maybe the distributors would love to have a 19mm alternative and wouldnt mind missing out on a few sales because they too will get something back for it? :)

then again, perhaps not :)

/my internet opinion.. ignore if you want to

What do you haters think we get for each bass? Do you think that we get the MSRP? What is an assembled 19mm street for...why are lefties more money? What would make anyone happy? how much should we sell them for to make everyone happy with a 90K investment?

For the record it is a 21 day window total.....I said black and msrp to begin with...I would have been better off not making the offer....

Here is the final deal...(BTW one person ordered and already canceled.....)

I will sell you the basses at $1,999.99....Through Shopatron...same deal with the color and choices....you have to make a non refundable 50% deposit....I will donate all of the proceeds to Pediatric Kidney Research...If there are 125 takers for this I will take that money and donate it to the Casey Lee Ball Foundation and make you the basses... (that comes to $249,875.00) if not I will refund the deposits immediately after the window closes....We support research at Seattle Childrens Hospital, Texas Childrens Hospital, Mattel Childrens Hospital at UCLA and Cincinnati Childrens Hospital. The same three week window applies...one week is gone.

I can't believe people are complaining about the MSRP pricing. What happened to all the people who were willing to pay a premium to get a SR5 with 19mm spacing?!?!

And, now BPs lowered the price AND you get to support a charitable foundation at the same time.

But, no I'm sure there will be even more excuses why the offer isn't good enough. You don't even want to support what you say you want so badly and have been dreaming of. You nay-sayers are totally not seeing the big picture here. Geez!!
