Contributing factors...probably, but the real issue is that the demand isn't really as great as some people thought.

Maybe not from Music Man, and maybe not in one color, but there is obviously plenty of demand for 19mm 5ers from plenty of companies. Heck, it's what Lakland was built on. They even offer different colors :)

Arent the Skylines still all 35" scale for 5ers?

See, that is more important to me, scale.

34" is where I belong.

Not only that, and I dont want to get into a past problem, but I tried 4-5 Laklands 5ers and the Ray 5 completely won me over due to a MUCH higher quality build, including paint, pickups, tone, included case, awesome neck to body joint, etc etc. The rest, as you can see by my growing 5 string EBMM collection, is history.

Every Skyline I tried was pushing over 11-12lbs.

Laklands are available in 34" scale.

But like you, Laklands are not my cup of tea either. I was just using them as an example.

The 'no demand' thing is interesting to me. I'd like to know how many of these basses were actually ordered. I'll bet MM 'sold' more of these 19mm 5ers in 3 weeks than most other companies sold 5 string basses total (comparing apples to apples...$300 Schecters don't count)..and that's with no dealer involvement and zero options. That sounds like pretty good demand.

Im closing this but getting the last word....There was an alleged huge demand. Regardless of color 125 is not a large quantity. I took dealers out of the equation only when the people were searching for a reason to not reach in their wallet to match their speedy vicious fingers. Shopatron involves the dealer. 60% of all basses sold are black.

With all due respect to Dan Lakin who last I heard was selling basses at Guitar Center in Chicago... He is a good guy who fought the battle to the end. I believe that he would have loved to have one month of our orders. You guys still have zero clue what goes into being successful in the guitar and bass business. I think there were a few people who looked at this and learned something about the process.

As for the limited exposure it was on the top three forums....here it got nearly 11,000 views. Exposure and color werent the problem...demand was. Period.

The people who think I failed here are beyond talking about...The people who failed were the doctors who could have funded new research.... Or how about the 79 people who would buy it in a New York Minute if I offered it? If 60% of what most companies make is black...then 47.4 should of ordered...except they were full of SH&t. They got Punkd and are trying to turn it around. You know some of the keyboard warriors were sitting at the high dollar table and then they got asked to place a bet. They didnt belong. Still dont.

Many may worry that I should have just ignored them...that it was bad for business....I think we found out that the most vocal and mean were never going to be customers anyway. Meanwhile we are still backordered over 4 months
I thank all the reasonable people for their understanding and support.

Adios.
