I hear ya, Ben. My grays are like steel wool, too. Fortunately, the rest of my hair isn't much different!

Just dye it all blond boys, use lots of conditioner then it'll all be nice and soft like mine.

My first gray hairs showed up before I hit 30. I've got a lot more of them now, and the consistency doesn't change. As long as I keep the hair I've got, though, I don't much care what color it is.

Having a cancer scare a year ago put some serious stress on me.
One morning, I noticed some gray hairs and began to worry about that the stress was making me gray.
Until I mentioned it to the wife. She said "Oh no, you've had that gray for ages"....

Well.. back when I had hair on my head.. it was pretty heavily gray on the sides.. and I was only 30. Now.. My goatee is mostly all gray, and those nose & ear hairs.. they're gray too... lol
Yeah... the gray ones always seem more wiry and stiff than the non-gray hairs... Why does the lack of color pigment make thme that way??

No gray hair for me yet.....but I keep my head shaved, so when they DO come, I won't notice!!!

My gray hairs aren't quite like steel wool, but they are different than the other hairs. Straighter, thicker and courser. Sometimes they stick out from the other hairs. I find that irritating.

Yes, gray hairs seem to want to go their own way for some reason. When they grow in my moustache they want to try to grow straight out. They are the old man in me trying to get out , but the kid in me kicks him in the shins!
