Oooh I'd love to volunteer for that! I'm not a pro at setups, but I do bleeb I can do a decent job at getting the basses to factory specs.

This is a great discussion.

I have seen and played a variety of EBMMs at three local GC stores and owned a bunch of them. I have never come across any EBMM that had major issues as far as the setup is concerned. Most often they require just a small truss rod adjustment and occasionally the strings replaced. The rest is up to the individual player's preferences.

I really like GC's policy of allowing customers to pick up any guitar and try it out. I am old enough to remember when you couldn't even touch a guitar without the salesperson seeing the size of your wallet. Overall, I think that once you get an EBMM in the hands of a customer it will sell itself. Although I do see many guitars in GC with cosmetic issues I have found that they are more than willing to compensate by lowering the price or order you a pristine copy.

Sure..I'll bite.

My Amateur Dentistry and Air Traffic Controller Certification allows me unique opportunities to offer assistance in a variety of challenging situations, so this would be a fun thing to stick in the wallett.

Tho I do appreciate knuckleheads I have ridden several but never owned one. I do however ride an "airhead" (opposed twin 86 BMW) and a vertical twin(57 Ariel).

There are however certain people that persist in thinking that I am a knucklehead (stop it MOM!), so I am somewhat resigned with acceptance of the moniker.

Texas Finally!
I would be up for a Knucklehead card, while I would never adjust the truss or the saddles that should be left to the store employees, to me a liability issue, I would love to change the strings and give the guitar a good cleaning using the wonder wipe products and tune them properly, from my small experience here in the Big D, the set ups seem to be fine it is generally that the guitars are a little dirty, neck a little grimy, fingerprints and old strings, and not tuned, but this is an easy fix and due to the GC very good policy of allowing people to try them out.
So I think that is a fine idea and would also promote the EB strings and cleaning products.:)

A Knucklehead card is a great idea! Sign me up!
My technical prowess may not be up to Tommy's or Jon's level, but I can tweak a truss rod, change strings, run a wonder wipe, and identify problems that may require real expert, Repairadise, attention.

Count me it. I've been known to set up a guitar/bass or two.....

Although I'm comfortable with filing trouble frets, and sprouting ends, I won't be taking it that far. String changes, and any adjustments are no issue for me. I'm also willing to change pots and switches if the store manager is jiggy with it.

I offer my services if needed for my local GC. I can tweak the necks, change strings, batteries and help clean em up if needed. I always report anything wrong with them anyway.:)

What an incredible response to a remarkable thread!

My thanks to all of you for your valuable input, especially the "Knuckleheads" who have volunteered to help us improve the presentation of our EBMM instruments. As soon as we have completed a definitive "action plan" that will effectively coordinate your efforts with those of our stores, I'll let you know the details via the Forum.

In the meantime, if you visit any GC stores and have comments about the presentation of our EBMM Bass or Guitar inventory - whether it be cleanliness, strings, hardware or set-up - please mention it to the Store or Department Manager. Please also email your observations to me directly at [email protected] so I can follow up with additional assistance.

Thanks once again for your enthusiastic support. I look forward to hearing from you.
