I'm on Poppa's side on this one. Lifelong Yankee fan here.

Yanks....dont even get me started!!!!!LOL. Well, at least Joe Torre still has his job for another couple of days. :D I cant say I wouldnt mind seeing the Yanks and Boston go at it again, but I think Cleveland has thier number right now, tommorow night is probably going to be it for them. Got to love the playoffs....I still cant believe the Dodgers choked yet again, they looked really good until right before the all-star game. But hey, thats the Dodgers right? GO REDSOX!!

I don't see the Yankees going far in the postseason. (Actually, I was surprised that they even got as close to catching the Sox as they did.) They haven't had good enough pitching for a number of years--the usual Yankee problem--all offense, no pitching.

The Yankee's keep pushing themselves further and further away from a championship with every 15million + a year power hitter they sign. In their hayday(especially the 96' team, which many consider the best) the Yank's were built on solid pitching and clutch situational hitting....moving runners over, sac flys, infield singles, working pitch counts, putting the ball in play..etc...etc. Once you get to the playoffs its all about doing the small things, scoring first and keeping a lead. Thats why a team like Colorodo has success in the playoff system...they have solid contact hitter from 1-8 in their lineup, not any free swinging 45 HR hitting .260 BA 15 million dollar a year players. Think of those great yankee teams....many times they didnt' even have a legit power threat(35+). Bernie Williams, Paul Oneil, Derek Jeter, Scott Broscious(spelling) all count workers that put the ball in play. The last few years Boston really has been the only power hitting team to win a WS.

This should be a great WS either way......it will be one of MLB oldest franchises against one of the newest. Maybe Spinal Tap will kick off the World Series opening ceremonies in Cleveland........ ;)

(that statement means the Sox still have a chance November) :) :)

definitely all starts with pitching......as I get older I realize that age thing is a double edged sword, only problem is...one side keeps getting sharper, while the other dulls. :) :) I think having guys in your line up that can work a count from 0-2, foul off 6 or 7 pitches and draw a walk is so valuable and underrated. Its all about getting on base and moving runners over......just ask Dave Roberts, Go Bo-Sox!!(poor Theo Epstein, that guy has it rough huh?) :) :)

I tell yah I'm rooting for them, but after last night game they've gotta sweep 3 in a row or they are all done. I've lived in New England my whole life, been to tons of Sox games and they'll break your heart everytime.

The Red Sox pitching has been fine so far. It's the bats that have gone silent. Not a good week for a hitting slump.

Let's hope Thursday is a better day for them.

Go Red Sox!!!

I completely agree. The Yankees need a paradigm shift. I wonder about these deals bringing in these aging free-agent sluggers. None of these deals really makes me feel good when I hear of them. I wonder what it will really bring. Usually, it's a few runs here and there, but if you can't keep the other guys from scoring with some good pitching, forget it. The Yanks need to grow some young talent, especially pitchers. How does the cliche go? Good pitching usually beats good hitting.

Oh, and please, Brian Cashman, don't go get an aging all-star pitcher either. So many durability issues.

Please root for the red sox....

Man, I don't think I could ever do that.

My hat went on in 1993. Was a season ticket holder for 12 years. Been to three spring trainings. One of my clients is the Rockies radio announcer. No late jumping on here!!!
