Been over there a few times...who hasn't?

Could never get into it, though...didn't seem to have a real personality to it like here and at my bass forum.

Guess it serves a purpose.

I assume you are probably talking about me and, if not, it doesn't change what I want to say anyway.

I am sorry I got too involved in that discussion, my only aim was to avoid what seemed like the inevitable inter-forum ****ing match that would result, however I got distracted and overly involved in the argument and am sorry for that and any feather ruffling that it has caused in the EBMM community.

Don't worry - I am not joining to particiapte in these forums on a regular basis as my only connection is a EBMM guitar that my brother owns. I just wanted to apologise and hopefully douse the flames in any "inter-forum" war that might otherwise result.

It's all good, Mark. Thank you for registering to apologize, and I do hope that you choose to stick around. I also hope that Lakland and Music Man customers alike have learned that it's probably not the best idea to keep giving someone with a spotty business history money for instruments that may or may not ever come to light. In retrospect, I kinda feel bad for Dan for having gotten suckered into feeling sorry for the Dude -- look at where it has gotten him. "Told you so" crosses the mind, and that is never an easy thing to say without it sounding like gloating. The Dude will continue to place blame on everyone else and pretty soon we'll see him throw Dan under the bus too. For all the DP followers, forgive them, for they know not what they do.

I really have no beef with Talk Bass at all. The threads there can get quite interesting at times and makes for good reading - especially reading up on occasional rumors about how evil a company EBMM is and how we need to buy out "fanboys" like Jack. LOL! I love that. I certainly wouldn't have invested 8.5 years of my live in an evil company; everyone knows I'm Protector of the Underdogs.

Anyhow, I'm done wishing the Dude well. The only thing one does when they continue to support a lost cause like that is enable them to perpetuate the problem. I just hope that at least threads like the one on TB remain to warn customers and reduce the imminent damage.

Rock on,
Beth :)

I used to jump around between a bunch of different bass forums on the net, including TB and a few others. I spend most of my internet bass-surfing time here these days, but I still look in on TB occasionally, and there's a lot of good info available there. The level of discourse can vary drastically from thread to thread, but it's usually pretty easy to tell the ones I should stay out of.

I posted in the TB thread only because I thought it was valuable info and should stay on the board.

The public can only judge what they see and there is more to it than that.

That's why I stayed out of it - as Jack put it, I didn't have a dog in the fight either.

TB is what it is. It's huge and if you're looking for info on an obscure piece of gear, you're more likely to find it there than anywhere else. I don't have time for "this vs. this", etc. threads. It has it's merits but there's a lot of stuff to sift thru...

I like TB - I've bought and sold stuff there, gleaned a lot of helpful info on bass setups, playing technique and amplification, and find most posters there are good, helpful people.

Of course, there are idiots there, too. But where in today's world aren't there, whether online or face-to-face?

Or to give money to someone who continually blames others for the shot they carefully placed in their own foot. (Or....choose your body part.)

In retrospect, I kinda feel bad for Dan for having gotten suckered into feeling sorry for the Dude -- look at where it has gotten him.

I don't feel badly at all for Dan. He KNEW what was going on, inasmuch as anyone did (someone didn't bother to talk about the felony charges until late in the game), and he chose sides. It doesn't matter what your opinion is out there in the hinterland - believe me, he chose sides. He said, in effect, "I think Sterling is being mean to Dude, and the bass world needs Dude."

GTFOMD.

The bass world needs Dude like the Kennedys need bad news.

Dan says he's going to back up the customers with deposits down? Good. That's what his obligation is, really, after the big love letter.

"Dude will continue to place blame on everyone else and pretty soon we'll see him throw Dan under the bus too.

I'm stunned that people can't figure this out. Steve has divested himself (sometimes in fascinating ways) of every manufacturer he represented. EBMM, John East, you name it, they're gone for whatever reason. Steve told me he isn't even INTERESTED in bass anymore. You think he's interested in getting some guy in Enid, Oklahoma, a Duck Dunn with all the proper options?

Just my opinion - he ain't that interested. He's got a trained monkey running the Pit and he himself hardly ever posts except to offer you a great deal on luggage or some such trash.

Or to claim that Sterling and I have 'taken the fight out of him' and that he's giving it up by the end of the year, blah blah blah. Giving WHAT up? A business that cannot survive unless the loyal lemmings DONATE to keep his garage open?

GTFOMD!

"The most recent attack on other forums from Jack Williams, Sterling Ball and the rest leaves me in a position where I really have no fight in me left. I will be around until the end of the year wrapping up things and closing up shop but after that I'll be gone."

Cry me an effin' river.

What attack? The truth is not an attack, the truth is just what it is. And what's left to give up? What is left? A couple of Pete Townsend bobbleheads or something? Valuable relationships with large manufacturers? Twenty thousand in debt that can't be covered by refinancing the parents' home again?

Closing up shop. Somebody tell me what that MEANS. It's nicely timed, I'll give it that, and will no doubt lead to some paypal deposits so that Steve Barr can carry on his David and Goliath-esque battle against the forces of evil!

Forces of evil = me and Sterling. Have you guys ever seen two more evil people?

And for the record, that towel was thrown in last year, too. Unfortunately for honorable people worldwide, he didn't mean it then and I suspect he doesn't mean it now. Ask me in January, but I think I'm right. It's SOP.

You know, I was nice about it on TB and I've been as diplomatic as I can be here, but screw it. The truth shall set me free!

...especially reading up on occasional rumors about how evil a company EBMM is and how we need to buy out "fanboys" like Jack. LOL! I love that.

If anyone (who's paying half a wit of attention) on TB hasn't figured out what my relationship is to the company and BP and the vast majority of the guys that work at EBMM, I can't help that. It's not like I talk it up but it isn't like I hide it, either. And this entire idea of "What's Jack got invested in this" is utter BS to distract from the very simple fact that someone is not doing what they should be doing with their customers' money.

Whether I have a dog in the fight or not, THAT is the crux of the biscuit. Not whether or not BP has given me a bass.

Well, or two.

And a Markbass rig.

And....hey, wait! That's NOT what it's about!

Anyhow, I'm done wishing the Dude well.

I think I am, too.

One would certainly draw that conclusion, anyway.

And Mark Latimour, you poked me in the eye and poked me in the eye and poked me in the eye. I hold no ill will toward you, but your claim that you're not going to participate here on a regular basis is okay with me. I'm sorry if that seems harsh or overly impolite, but that's just how I really feel about it.

Tim, I didn't see your post. Did it get deleted with some of the others? After our discussion in the desert I'm curious about it.

By the way, I got some great pics from Joshua Tree. I wish there was the picture equivalent of that Korean dinner in DHS. The only unfortunate thing is that I didn't realize exactly what my University of Bass t-shirt might look like in some photos, with some folds....Yeow.

other fine basses

EBMMFORUMLand is HOME TO ME... because of a couple of other fine basses:cool: I acquired over time and played before my ABI, I cruised by that other place one day:confused: and felt absolutely no inclination to stick around for some blather:( that had no connection whatsoever with my realities on the other instruments. I reckon the cyberworld is much like the BIG OL' outside world in most waze:confused: .... and I just don't have the curiosity to hear what everyone wants to hear themselves say about anything ...

So, BIGTNX again to BP and the SLOLanders for all the fine gear :)and Y'ZAll fine Knucleheadersfor keepin' the EBMM Homefires burnin', :)especially Whilst I'm still Stuck here in Rehabland for another month or so EH?:)

Wow, didn't mean to touch off an inter forum fire storm.

Trashing an entire community because of a small percentage of idiots is absurd.

You're absolutely correct, adouglas. My post was meant more tongue-in-cheek (TNT seemed to get it) and was never intended to truly trash TB. I'm sure I'll go back - someday. However, I have limited "forum time" (as I type the sun is shining and I really should be out raking leaves) and so choose to spend it here.

Jaylegroove - I really didn't feel "dirty" after reading those posts. Probably more disgusted. There were a few posters (one who even apologized here) who seemed to be on a mission.

Lisa - where you been grrrlllllfren? I kept thinking about our conversation as I read through all those posts on TB. Deja vu, huh? Oh, and we have lots-o-pics too.

BP - Julia wants you to taste her peaches (whatever that means ;) ). Shall we sent them to the desert?

I don't mind TB in small doses, and can tolerate the dumbfuk element (well, most of the time anyway), but what TB really needs is a better way to navigate the enormous daily post volume. Rather than a single section for "bass guitars", they need lots and lots of different sub-sections, to make it more manageable. I hate logging in to find there are 12 pages of new threads in just a couple of days. Who has time to keep on top of all that?

TB is just too big for me, I'm really only into EBMM basses and this place is my home. I own a few other basses and several amps but none of them have a cool forum like this place. My friends are here, BP gives me funny nicknames and stuff, I love it here.

I mean no disrespect to TB or its members.

My parting shot is that Im getting used to solicit sympathy and donations over there...I took the fight out of him.......hmmmmmit wasn't the multiple felonies? I need to understand my secret powers more....

By the way I have never been arrested, plea bargained, or taken a customers money without delivering value promised.

The desert address is fine.....
