I've been mulling over the idea of another tattoo (I have 3 already), and I wanted my 4th one to be music/guitar related. I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a good idea or inspiration, when I came across this one on the Ernie Ball online shop.

It's not too fanboyish, it's identifiable as Ernie Ball (at least to me), but is random enough to pass as a possible cool tat. I wanted to get some thoughts or opinions before I went ahead with it.

I'm really interested in having an artist change it up just a little. maybe have musical notes flying off the fretboard, or flames. I'm liking the overall look of it though.

Possible Cool Tat .... Hmm. You definitely don't want to decide on something that has a "possibility" or "potential" .. you've gots to be dead set and stoked on what you're getting. I'm sure you know this already, this is not your first.

There's a lot of cool graphics/designs that EB does that just seem like they're supposed to be tattoos. I have no doubt that you'll be able to find something that just KILLS!!

Can't wait to see it! :)

I'd try to talk you out of getting one...... but since you have three already, your idea looks pretty cool for #4.

interesting idea - what sort of color scheme/complexity?

I think as is in the pic, it would be cool in black ink.

cheers, eh

Joel
p.s. can relate to the need for additional work .... been a while since my last visit to the local shop:cool:

Tony,

You know you'll have to pay BP a residual every time you show it.

So, be sure to hide it from him in a good place!! Use your imagination!! ("good" imagination).

I think it looks killer. I'd be interested in seeing some of the stuff Jodizzle is referring to just for comparisons.

Thanks for the input. I think it would make a great black and white, but I wouldn't mind some color. I'm actually wanting to change the guitar he's holding into an Axis shape. The "possible" cool part for me was taking the basic design in the drawing and add some interesting things to it.

I really want to give a good tattoo artist a shot of this picture and let him work on it. Add on some music notes, lightning bolts, flames, some type of background art (even the Ball logo). Then I think this one could go from possible to absolutely rockin'..

I've been lucky with my tats that I have already. I took my time deciding what I want. I am 100% happy with each of them, and I have had 0% tattoo regret.

I know about having to pay BP a residual. As far a placement, I have the spot figured out. I just have to decide right or left. :D

i'm in the same boat as you mate. (can't you see me there to your starboard??)

that is a cool tat to get and i may have to consider that as an option.

Ohhh I'm liking that! I may be slightly biased as I already have an EBMM eagle on my back (like the one on the Slinkys string packet) and that design lends itself perfectly for a tattoo!

If you don't, I just may well...

;o)

Dude...that DT logo is going to sick! Hopefully you have someone doing the work that can make it just as visually impressive at the image here.

I have the Majesty (dream Theater) logo on the underside of my right arm, its positioned
as if i had the branding off the front cover of WDADU done and then rested my arm down on the wound!

I once got a Henna guitar on my left shoulderblade just to see how I'd like it there. It was about 2-3" x 1-1/2" and looked great but I decided I'd have to find another place if I ever wanted a tattoo like it. I wear a lot of sleeveless shirts to work during hot weather and showing it would not be the most conducive to the upward movement of my career. You may want to consider getting a Henna mockup first to test the location, size and overall layout. It's pretty cheap, painless and, after 2 weeks, it's gone.

Tony,

Get your avatar as a tattoo.:D

Scott

P.S. I like the eagle concept. I'd just get the artist to make one up with the eagle holding the guitar facing you. That way you'd see the whole guitar.

I've thought about doing something like that. Even something like the Presidential seal, but instead of holding arrows and a olive branch in its talons, it's holding a guitar. Or the necks off of a couple of guitars.

I'd love to do the front of a guitar, but I've heard from some tattoo artists that the lines can be tricky, especially the strings. THat's why I liked this particular design. It took that issue out.
