How'd you end up with a Tele as your backup to your Axis? (or for those in the know.....your ASS.....hehe).

I have four Axis guitars and use them all at gigs in rotation. I rarely if ever break strings these days but I always carry a spare guitar. I take the Tele as its limits my liability. I would rather lose one Axis than two, and the Tele is $600 guitar not a $2000 one! Plus if somebody wants to get up and jam, I would rather they played the Tele!

One of my favorite guitars of all time is a MIJ Tele that I bought new in 85 and threw in a set of DiMarzio Fast Tracks in the first year they came out back in 91, could run the classic rock alphabet with those pups from AC/DC to Zep! Have not pulled that guitar out in sometime but it is the lowest costing guitar I own today, I think I payed $490 for it but in a way one of my most treasured. Some others you may want to checkout are a SD Hot Rail for the bridge if you are going for a high gain 80's type sound, DiMarzio Area's if you want to try and capture a true single coil type tone with a bit more juice. I have a guitar I want to throw a set of Yngwie's new sig SD pups in as they sound really good. I have always hated 60 cycle hum and find those vintage nuts on other forums who say it is not annoying full of sh!t.

I like the way you think Tim..I take two Axis guitars out to each gig and sometimes I am not comfortable with the risk..I rarely let anyone else get up to play now ...I never even cared so much when I owned my PRS guitars....I love these guitars .......
