Part 2 - Greatest Intro's ever

Ufo

I've been listening to this lately...Doctor,Doctor-UFO some really good picks here by everyone!!

Being a Dream Theater and John Petrucci fan, I am tempted to rattle off a ton of their songs, but I'll spare you all. :D

i would have to say....

ozzy - perry mason and breakin the rules
yes - heart of the sunrise (although i know its been mentioned already)
boston - foreplay
muse - hysteria
chili peppers - around the world
victor wooten - what did he say¿

i have too many to name, but i wasnt sure if we were just naming bass intros, or any intro that sounded cool.

Billy Squire - In the Dark
Billy Thorpe - Children of the Sun
XTC - Summer's Cauldron
King Crimson - LTIA Part I
Led Zep - The Rain Song / Ten Years Gone / Over the Hills and Far Away
Hendrix - Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)

There are so many. The Crimson song violates the rule by taking a long time to build up, but it's still cool.

+1 M8

Intro to Scenes from a Memory from Score DVD/CD

Jp's playing/tone/phrasing was awesome and he used one of the prototype Siltruccis......lovely!

Pink Floyd- Shine On You Crazy Diamond (any part)
Pat Metheny- Roots of Coincidence
Mahavishnu Orchestra- One Word (half of their songs, really)
Pink Floyd- Astronomy Domine
Nugent- Stranglehold
Steve Miller- Fly like an Eagle

My best ever...Watcher Of The Skies - Genesis

Closely followed by Xanadu - Rush

Both simply awesome! Play 'em both very loud!!!!!

Edit: Also my vote for most over the top intro ever goes to Rainbow's Eyes Of The World (on Down To Earth)

Magnificent overblown stuff!!!!
