hey brandt how about a review?

Hey guys! All is well! I just got off the road (Clocked 560 miles round trip) and came straight to my computer!

The show was great! About a dozen or so first class guitar players all playing at there best and feeding off of the vibe of celebrating the 40th anniversary of James Burton and Elvis all while playing in a venue that hosted one of Elvis’ first gigs! There was definitely a spirit there and you could feel it!

Every player was great but i really enjoyed seeing Albert Lee rip though Country Boy on his Pink Burst BFR. (Which arrived in great shape ;) )

When I showed up to the venue Luke was at dinner so i dropped the guitar to the tech and when on a hunt for a hotel and hot shower, I was still dressed for work because I was supposed to going for the morning shift on Sat when I got the message from BP. While I was driving around Shreveport I received a call from Luke, he was ecstatic! The guitar was perfect, set up just like he liked. His management to me that he was so worried about having to play another brand of guitar that he was in panic mode. Not only because his love and loyalty to EBMM but because he was afraid that without that guitar he wound not be at his best. Luke was the HEADLINER and he needed and wanted to be at his best! He was so happy that he suggested a nice hotel, picked up the bill and asked me to rush back so he could thank me in person! When I when back to the venue I fond Luke walking around with the guitar on a strap showing it off to the other guys there. When we met face to face he thanked me again for making the trip and having the guitar ready and in playing shape. (The truth is, the guitar was fresh out of the box with the original strings and factory set up. I was in such a rush when i left the i didn’t even plug the guitar in and test it, i trusted the craftsmanship of EBMM and believed that the guitar wouldn’t let me down!)

I heard that Luke did a number on the original guitar that showed up for the gig. (It was a mistake on the carrier’s end and the wrong guitar was sent, apparently some non fully functional prototype....) I asked Luke about it and he didn’t want me to see the guitar nor did he want to talk about it.

Once Luke took the stage I was front row ready to be wowed and watch the guitar that I had spent the day with go to work! Luke stepped up hit the first note and.........nothing!.....no sound! ....(Crap! my heart sank) .....then oopps, the chord was not all the way in the jack! haha, quick fix and he was rocking the house down!

It was a great night! and it would not have been possible with out a first class company, guitar and forum community! (Thats right! Forum! Sterling did not have any of my personal contact info so he contacted me via PM at 8 AM Sat morning!)

Thanks BP and Luke for one heck of a good time!

We will be giving the guitar away that Luke signed and played that not. Not sure of the format just yet.

Very cool Brandt. I am sure BP is grateful as well as Luke was. I wouldn't mind owning that one for sure. A no doubt awesome move on James' part too ;)

Very cool, Poppa. Thanks for the story. Great job Brandt. And cool review.

Thanks so much Perfect Bass for making us look good and keeping an ebmm in lukes hands for this show.......

Yeah, I think Steve would have looked a little odd with a Strat in his hand.;)

The heck with the Luke, I don't play guitar much anyway. How about that white pickguardless BONGO? (drool)

Seriously, great story and great testimony to going over and above. Good on ya!

Brandt Thanks again so much! Luke was a happy camper...he thought the guitar was perfect and Im glad that this gives us a chance to prove why our refusal to modify signature guitars for individual preferences...this is lukes guitar he could go anywhere in the world and pull it off the rack and play....He did that at a clinic I did about 10 years abo with Jay Graydon and Albert and LUke and Morse....THe store manager came and asked LUke where his guitar was and he pointed to the wall and says...."that one" They couldnt believe it

Over the years we have some very angry newbies because we wont make the petrucci how they want it or the al or luke.... THis is rewarding on a lot of fronts Lukes Loyalty Brandt James and Shaun at PB and the fact that I dont sleep much

cool story

Sweet guitar, the Ice Blue is nice. And I kinda like that it's a good ol' "standard" (non-BFR) Luke. Goes to show that it's (still) every bit of a quality instrument when Luke can take it stock out on stage and let her rip for a whole gig and love it.

I remember years ago Steve Morse saying how he loved that he could go to a guitar store anywhere and grab a Morse model right off the rack and play a gig with it.

Good point, BP. Makes me feel like a slug requesting a RW fretboard for the AL. On another note, reading Brandt's story inspired me spend about an hour coming through videos of Steve Lukather last night (interviews, jam sessions...). I always knew who he was, but didn't really know much about his music or his character. All I can say is that Steve appears to be a class act -- 100%. I love how humble and down-to-earth all the MM signature artists are.

Great story!

Not surprising at all though, BP and Luke have a lot of positive karma stacked in their favor for being such good guys.

Brandt..you rock, sir.

It was a nice drive! LA had a cold front come through so I got to roll the windows down, crank the system and listen to 4+ hours of music that I never get to enjoy at high volume! ... I’m telling you it was a pleasure to make the trip!
