I posted this on another forum but figured you guys might dig it too.
Okay guys, I just finished yesterday with a very quick demo and rough mix of a song I've been working on with my new band. Don't be too critical at this stage, this was a throw a mic in front of the cab and get the general idea kind of thing. I just thought some of you might want to check out the tones of my new Randall RM 4 rig.
Oh yeah, the playing isn't exactly mind blowing either. It's just a very basic outline of a tune I'm writing. It just has acoustic guitar, heavy rhythm guitar, some clean parts, and a melody guitar part or two.
Here's a quick rundown on the rig:
All the guitar parts are my EB/MM JP7. The amp rig is my Randall rack system of an RM 4 and a Randall RT2/50 poweramp. The acoustic stuff is just the piezo line of the JP7 straight in. The heavy rhythm is the Recto and XTC module each panned hard. The clean is the Blackface module with a little chorus and verb from my TC Electronic G Major.
The whole rack goes into my Mesa Recto 4x12 and was mic'd with a single Sennheiser E609 (like I said, very quick no sweet spot).
The mic went direct into my Digi 002 rack and into Pro Tools v7. I used a little reverb over the acoustics and drums. Oh yeah, the drums are from Reason 3.0 using a midi file my drummer programmed fed into a sequencer.
