Hello
My roasted maple petrucci guitar's nut has a weird whiteness which is shown in the photo. Is it normal? Do you have the same thing?

That's probably the adhesive holding the nut into the notch. It should not be visible like that. It was likely a sloppy oversight by the builder who did not sufficiently wipe away the excess glue. This is a rare QC oversight in otherwise flawless MM products. It should not affect anything with the guitar; it's likely more of a visual nuisance more than anything else. If you bought the guitar used, you're probably out of luck. If it was new, contact the dealer and get a replacement guitar or a partial refund.

As you requested, here are pics of my nuts.

Uh...

Pics of my guitar nuts.

There really should not be excess glue visible, but it will not affect the sound of the guitar.

Your guitar is not a roasted maple neck sealed guitar, yours is a Majesty different guitars and builds entirely.

That nut looks like every nut I saw on the limited black sugar roasted maple neck guitars.

That nut looks like every nut I saw on the limited black sugar roasted ample neck guitars.

My Luke III has a roasted maple neck. But it doesn't matter, anyway. The nut goes on after the finish.

I've never owned a guitar in my 23 years of playing that had excess glue visible at the nut like that.

the black sugar run has a laquered neck and headstock, and the finish covers the side of the nut as well.
maybe that´s the reason why the glue is more visible or maybe it's the clear-coat which runs into the small gaps and fills it up.

the nut on my black sugar looks the same, but this is only on the black sugar, not on any other EBMM guitar i own - the rest of them all have unfinished necks.

That isn't normal, mine never showed any signs of that happening. That looks more like bubbling under the lacquer, happens with fret ends when they pop out a bit as well on lacquered necks with unbound fingerboards.

This is the best shot I can get of my old guitar from the same run. It had no signs of this at all.

I have the same thing on my Black Sugar Reflex, nothing to worry about IMO, had it from day one, never bothered me.

I don't think its bubbling in the original pic, but its not my guitar so can't say for sure. All that I can say, as the other black sugar owners have mentioned, is that the glue and lacquer on my JPX appear to look the same color at the base of the nut as in the original picture posted. I would not classify it a mistake, or issue... its just the color of the materials used..
Hope that helps. Enjoy the guitar ;)

It's from the ebony shrinking slightly. It's basically what you see with fret sprout, where as the ebony shrinks, the nut pushes the lacquer away from the body very slightly.

Totally normal. Some guitars have it others won't.

I have a JPX7 from the Black Sugar. Neck is roasted but also has a laquer, which they haven't used on production roasted necks since, and mine is the same way. I'm not worried about it!

My JPXI has it. I bought it used and the D-string nut slot is too low causing the string to fret out and rattle (which I'll be fixing soon thanks to advice from EBMM's customer service dept.) and when I saw the white at the end of the nut I was like "Man, this guy sold me a lemon," until I realized it was UNDER the lacquer. It's no biggie. Not terribly attractive, but it doesn't affect the sound and if I'm looking that close at it that means I'm not playing it :)

Edit: to clarify, the D-string slot was probably because he wanted to play with ridonculously heavy gauge strings and filed the slot himself; I'm sure it was flawless from the factory.
