Picking a John Petrucci Colour...

I hear what everyone is saying, but the Petrucci just happens to look damn good in white. I think it's the stark contrast of the black pickups and knobs, and the rosewood fingerboard against the white.

I think matching headstock is a must with the white, though.

Seems as though nobody has really plugged his third choice - sapphire black. My JP is sapphire black, and I like it better than any of the other colors he listed. It has some subtle blue and purple overtones that really come out in the right light. I'm still loving it - although I am planning to order an LE once I decide whether I want a Luke or JP.

the blue dawn looks hot... i wonder what the availbility it of it will be since its a limited... JP's are a bit scarce in canada... i'll bet that these will be real hard to find..

Well, you can always order one. You'll just have to wait. EBMM guitars are scarce in Detroit and just about everywhere else I've looked with the exception of some higher volume dealers.

Well, I have nothing against MD. It just seems that every third JP is MD. Heck, maybe one out of every two. I wish I could have a JP collection like Ernie's.

Me too! I'm headed in that direction but rather slower. If I live to about 120 I may get close!

You know mesavox i do agree with you on the white AL that Tyler is playing or a white AL in general is the sweetest thing i have ever seen, and i would have said same about the JP in white not looking that great, but after seeing the Score DVD and towards the end JP takes out this white JP6 and i was like i want one...I guess that's why i would say white on a JP, but like they say different strokes for different folks, and everyone has their own taste.

It's so hard to choose a colour, but I think for now, I'm going for the white... someone mentioned that JP whips it out during the Score DVD, I'm going to try to get my hands on that DVD to have a look....

I like the black pickups, with the fingerboard makes the guitar looks clean yet powerful...

I also liked the Graphite Pearl, but I think a lot of guitars look like that already, I had an Ibanez which was similar in colour so I'm gonna try something a little different

That ain't white! It's buttercream. That was the Ltd Ed colour for 2005. A white one doesn't look like that.

Foggy to the rescue! Quick, dig out a white JP6 and a buttercream JP6 so he can see the difference.

Alas, on Root of All Evil I think he uses an Egyptian Smoke, though. Not my favourite colour by a long shot. Looks good only under stage lighting, IMO.

The Buttercream that he uses on Octavarium and Metropolis Pt. I looks gorgeous. I normally wouldn't like that sort of colour, but that DVD (and seeing him playing it in Toronto) changed my mind.

Seeing the Buttercream at the end of Octavarium also changed my mind about it. Seeing the color in real life on a Bongo sure helped too. When I see the color on the Chrysler 300, I want a JP in that color too.

Yeah. He's been using the Egyptian Smoke on TROAE and Stream of Consciousness.

I think buttercream on a JP barks...(yecch).

But that's just my two cents. I think Buttercream needs a pickguard to accent it in order for it to look good. It's a vintage-y sort of color and vintage guitars mostly had pickguards, right?

(Please, don't anyone bombard me with photos of non-pickguard vintage guitars!)
