i guess it depends on your style, the petrucci seems the worst guitar for me out of the EBMM range, I'm really not into the flat neck radius or even the Petrucci sound he gets from it, but i like every other EBMM guitar just fine. you own a Y2D and an Axis, you prefer the Pet over those two?

I know that wasn't directed to me, but I thought I'd chime in..I prefer my Petrucci over my Y2D (which is Floyd-equipped).

I think the main reasons are:

1) the deep contour on the Petrucci where your picking arm rests.
2) the superior-in-every-way tremolo system on the Petrucci

Even though the necks are distinctly different, I'm really not bothered so much by those differences. Strange, eh?

Well, now that you mention it, it looks like you COULD spare one of your Super Sports in favor of a Pet. Wait 'til 2007 and pray that the 'Sitrucci' sees the production line. It will sound different than the current Pet's if they use the pickups that were on the one-offs made for JP.

Hi there

Yup, the Pets are my faves.I'm pretty much in agreement with SteveB. My reasons in no particular order are:-

1) Super comfortable to wear especially with the big forearm cutout. Really becomes part of your body especially playing live.
2) Trem system is best I've ever tried. I like 'em floating and responsive and this baby has that with no nasty sticking out bits!
3) Pickup and switching options cover every sound I need. Middle position is particularly clever with the coil taps giving a really different clean sound.
4) For me it also sounds the best - I love the Axis but I prefer the tone of the Pet in a straight shoot out. The p/ups seem to have more definition and clarity with a thick gainny sound.

To be fair, I've only had the Y2D for a few weeks so I don't really know it yet. Will report further once this has been tried in anger!

It's funny though, having had many locking Floyd guitars over the years which I've always been happy with, I didn't realise how used I'd become to the simplicity of the Pet trem recently. All this mucking about with locking nuts and fine tuners seems like hard work now!:D

would it be too much to start a petition for the construction of a sitrucci in 2007? would BP go off his rocker???

First, I think it will happen anyway.. but secondly, I think 'petitioning' BP just pisses him off.
