When will we be able to put a deposit down on one? Or is that even decided yet? I have 2 colors picked out already. This the only bass I would even consider buying without playing it first. I know it's gonna be good. Can't wait!

I'm told that pricing will be announced at NAMM and that dealer orders will be taken there also. NAMM is the weekend of Jan. 19, 2008.

Right on. I wasn't planning on driving up for NAMM (from San Diego), but now I've had a change of heart. I wanna see this puppy asap.

Can someone give me an idea of how it goes at NAMM for the general public? Is a ticket required? If you only want to check it out for 1 of the 3 days, are single day tickets available, etc?

Hmmmm, if I do that, I guess I should make it the last day, so I'll be sure to see the Sterling 5, in case it's not unveiled the 1st or 2nd day.

Thx,
Robert

Robert,

It's industry only so you'll have to find someone - retailer, artist, manufacturer - with an extra pass.

Looks nice, however....

Were stingray5's always ceramic?

I think some people might miss the sound of the Classic stingray 5 with the ceramic pickup...

K, thats fine in my book then...

Anyone read what they were saying about this over at talkbass? Those guys are idiots, they do have a few points but mainly just stupidity.... Everyone wanting something diffrent..

Oh by the way BP when can I get a sterling or stringray in sparkle green? :D

Those guys arent idiots they just have a different way of expressing themselves. Im sorry if showing prototypes and getting to make changes in my brand offends them I notice that we sure get linked back to them alot.

I dont read the threads there but I thought it made sense to make the stingray 5 match the pickups to the stingray 4...and have the sterling represent the ceramic models. I cant see why that would elicit such strong opinions. I should have made the Sterling 5 long ago and never changed the SR5...my production wouldnt allow it.

This kind of feels like I cant win. So many people asked for alnico in the sr5 and so many guys were making replacement pu's in alnico coupled with the tremendous acceptance to the 20th anniversary 5 and its alnico pick ups...I really didnt think that this would cause a panty bunching at Talk Bass.

The funny thing is that maybe some should play it before passing judgement either way?

Well, there are some people over there that get it, so it's not all bad. Some are even saving their pennies already. But some people comment without reading the information given. Like: "why is the body natural and the headstock matching. That's lame!" Clearly that person has only glanced at the photos and then hit the submit reply button. It's just talkbass that's all.:)
It's gonna be a hit.

Well hell BP, as the saying goes, you can't please all the people all the time; you can only please some of the people some of the time, and you've damn sure done that in spades, and that's an understatement. F the naysayers.

Yeah, Psychicpet, that silver Bongo 6 Myung is playing (in the photos over in the artist area of the forum) is absolutely SICK.
