I just got power slinkies for my epiphone thunderbird iv because I use power slinkies on my epiphone les paul and love them so I wanted to try the bass equivalent. However, I read somewhere that if you use high gauge strings you can bend the neck. If I keep my t-bird in drop d mostly while going to drop c and c# sometimes, will that have a bad effect on the neck? Are power slinkies too heavy for drop d?

Your truss rod will need adjusting to prevent the neck from bending too much under the string tension, which would affect the action and playability, but there is not real risk to your neck. It's not a difficult job but if you don't know about these things you should bring your instrument to a luthier or guitar tech to do the job for you. Ask the professional musicians in your area who they trust with their instruments. You can also call or Ernie Ball customer service for advice.
