Got my Claypool DVD today, and it rocks. Les playing all kinds of basses including a Jazz, the Whamola, a Rick, his full complement of Carl Thompson's, and at one point a bass that had a Kramer "tuning fork" neck and a body that looked modern. I think it might be a Kramer 8-string that he had refinished and strung for four strings. I'll have to look again.

My uncle is Jim Messina from Loggins & Messina, Buffalo Springfield, Poco and such..and I've been lucky enough to meet a few notables over the years, however; the only time I've actually been star struck was getting to meet Oteil Burbridge. Jim just thought it was funny that the only person that got me all hyped was someone that "most" people would have no idea who he was. Neil Young? I'll take Oteil any day! hehehe

Oteil's got two envious jobs...anchor for the Allman Bro's...and regular jamming status with Derek Trucks!

I hate him...just hate him! :D

Will Do. Jimmy and Kenny actually got back together this past year, released a new dvd/cd and are currently on the road. Check'em out if he comes your way.

This thread has morphed from one about Les Claypool into a reference about the Allman Bros. For the love of god, Jack, lock it now.

I don't think it takes 6 degrees. Les and Oteil each played on a track off Gov't Mule's Deep end albums. Although I'm pretty sure Les is on vol. 2 and Oteil on vol. 1.:D

Now here's a tenuous connection.

Adrian Belew did a power trio project with Les Claypool.

Adrian Belew also plays with my pal Bob Nyswonger in the Bears.

And I once loaned Bob a Bongo!

That, my friends, is tenuous.

How's this for tenuous...I bought a pickguard from Jack.
