Hey Guys,

First time posting here. I am really frustrated, so bear with me.

I bought a JP12-6 at Guitar Center about 1 and half month ago, after some time playing with it I noticed that when using the piezo the sound would cut out when playing notes close to the bridge (after the 12th fret), very weird. So, I went back to the store and they gave a brand new one.

Now, I still can't believe but this one is also flawed.

I am using a mono cable on the piezo jack, with the new one the piezo works great but the magnetics are showing some kind of bad contact (see/listen the attachment). At first I thought it could be a cable issue, but that does not explain why the piezo works great.

Is that expected? I have played with the same cable on the stereo jack and the sound is perfect... but I am worried that something worst can happen, like it completely stop working, if I don't return the guitar, for the second time. =/

I expected more of a $2k guitar.

Thank you!

Hi there-

Sorry to hear about your problems. First off, posts with links/files require a moderator to approve them for new members- we do this to cut down on spam. So that's why the 4 threads you posted weren't visible.

Rather than coming in with an "I expected more" bit, why don't you let the folks at MM take care of you. They have stellar customer support, and if you contact them first thing on Monday, they'll be able to help get your guitar sorted out. Don't worry, if this is a new guitar, you're covered under warranty.

Now, they'll probably ask some basic questions- does this intermittent sound happen with both outputs? Keep in mind, with stereo jacks, there's the possibility your cable isn't making proper contact with both the tip and ring connectors. If you can try both jacks, and possibly another brand of cable, that'll help provide some additional information. Etc.

Welcome to the forum! You've got a great guitar there and everything is going to work out just fine.

This issue is driving me crazy. Sometimes it does not happen, but eventually there it is.
I haven't tried other cables, this one is as new as the guitar and plus when playing with the piezo the sound is flawless. And also the stereo jack seems to work perfectly as well.

The only problem is with the magnetic when playing through the mono jack.

I had other guitars for more than 10 years and this is the first time I'm having trouble, so I think I am not doing anything wrong.

I will probably stop by at guitar center again, to try other cables and see if we can troubleshoot this.

Thanks anyway.

I would contact Music Man Customer Service. GC may not know how to fully troubleshoot the issue with you. MM built it, they know it better than anyone else.
