why is it that in all walks of life boxes cause issues. mostly theoretical. I may add this to my study on why men prefer cold milk out of the carton as opposed to out of the glass.

Yours in the name of science, peace and other far less interesting stuff

Chris

Glad I was busy today and also glad you seem to have it sorted out.

Welcome to the forum, by the way. I won't tell you how many Bongos I have, how many I've had in the past and how many problems I haven't had, okay?

the overwhelmed by boxes,

Jack

I hope some EB wahs are in those boxes.:D

what is REALLY sad, is that his idiot dealer made him buy another battery box+repair costs *cough*scammer*cough* AND wasted his time on needless repairs, before actually taking 10minutes and finding the real problem and fixing it. umm 10cent wire.

why are so many music stores like auto repair places, that take pride in scamming people for every last dollar?

My advice, get a new "guy".

Now you've gone and done it!

Here we were, starting to all get along and you have to disrespect the industry that I work in!

Oh wait, there are a lot of scammers in that industry.

Never mind.

Oh, come on. I really don't think the tech was trying to squeeze a few pennies out of the poor guy. That's just ridiculous. IMHO it's more about being lazy and giving a pat answer instead of making the effort to get to the bottom of the problem.

Real troubleshooting takes time and thought. Time is money and anyone in a small business has a lot to think about, all the time. There's a real motivation to get people out of the way as fast as you can.

In my experience there are two ways to approach customer service:

1) Do whatever you can to figure out what the customer's problem really is and make it right.

or

2) Do whatever you can to appease the customer and get him/her out of your face so you can go back to doing something more worthwhile. Generally this means giving them the obvious answer instead of actually trying to investigate the problem.

Battery problem? Battery okay? Must be a bad battery box. Here. Go away.

The first approach, while more difficult, builds strong customer relationships, creates a good reputation and generates business through word of mouth and repeat customers. The second makes the day go more smoothly.

If you're the guy in charge, you're more interested in the first option. If you're just an hourly cubicle monkey, you're much more interested in the second.

You are assuming something I didn't say. First of all there was and still is a problem with the battery connection. It still goes out, I just have to take the batteries in and out again. Secondly the loose wire didn't happen until the SECOND new one. Which for some reason still has issues with the battery prongs. And third replacing the battery box was MY idea not his.

I figured get it fixed and not have to worry about it again. The only thing he suggested was to put something behind the prongs to prop them up, which he did, but still didn't work long for some reason.

As far as scamming me this guy often just brushes me off when I ask how much. When I get my basses adjusted he only charges me for the strings + 10 bucks. Hell for fixing the wire he just charged me 10 bucks. OMG he's getting rich off of guys like me.

These guys are not like that, they make their real money buying and selling guitars. The repair stuff is something for them to do while they sit around.

I'm still trying to work out how the battery connectors can get bent in transit in this guy's car on the way to a gig. I mean, where are the moving parts that are causing this? With a battery snug inside the battery box there is no way any damage can be caused in transit. That's why I called it BS. I'm not being a fanboy, I'm merely trying to understand how what this guy is claiming has happened on repeated occasions can physically occur.

when you figure it out let me know, because I'd like my bass to stop going out on me.

My best guess though, would be that the batteries aren't snug enough for some reason and lose connnection when the guitar is brought to a different position.
