Question re: that rosewood 20th. What kind of rosewood did you guys use for the body and neck? Just curious.
Thanks,

I'm pretty sure they'll be black, because the guitars and basses that have pickguards are black.

The Sterling prototype at NAMM had chrome. I'd imagine the guitars will, too.

You are correct! However, the knobs for the Sterling sit outside the pickguard.
I am only guessing they'll be black. Chrome would be so sweet though!
Either way, they can always be changed.

I remember reading that the knob shafts are different and a "normal" knob wont fit.

so how does one go about getting new chrome knobs? i would love these on a rosewood axis, but i cant really afford the piezo which comes with chrome knobs, is it just a simple matter of going out and buying chrome knobs from a guitar store?

The chrome knobs should be used with solid shaft pots. The Axis/SSPT use split shaft pots. You can change the pot if you really want that type of knob. If you use that type of knob on a split shaft pot, it will wobble

Is it the split collapsing when tightening the set screw that makes is wobble?
If so, I wonder if the split in the shaft could be shimmed with a chunk of pick or something.

You can line up the set screw on a knob intended for a solid shaft with the split in the split shaft pot(does that make sense?) but it will never work right. I have heard of people using anything from a pick to wood to fill in the shaft, but I really doubt it will work right. If you want that type of knob, change the pot.

I bought a Tele style knob for my sunburst Axis a while ago, and it had a small collar inside the knob. You have to line up the grub screw with the split and it works perfectly. It was one of these fancy overpriced knobs, and the name of the brand totally escapes me now!
